This is a no-fuss video which I made to show you how to get started with your first ever compost bin. Composting is easy and hopefully this video will show you how simple it is to start filling up a compost bin and have compost ready next year to grow in. There will be more videos in the future about composting in more detail too. This is part of my book week celebration of the launch of Veg in One Bed: https://amzn.to/2BDJiQz

Could I put a umbrella type thing over it to block off the rain?
Nice easy video. Not too intimidating, while being really informative. Great info, and thank you for making the list of green and brown materials! It helps a ton!
1:14. Nope.
I like the option being built in the video but flat pack compost bin doesn’t pull up the same result. Does this go by another name? I’m from the States.
The sun we have in Saudi Arabia is very hot in the summer, can the compost bin be left under the sun
Loved this! thank you so much. I agree the plastic composter are ugly
Guys dont over think in making a compost pile just throw all ur organic waste in ur compost area and flip it every couple weeks. Theres no ratio involved. Dont make it harder than it has to be ppl its a compost pile.
Question: pen ink? Good or bad? I’ve heard it hurts the worms in the composting.
I got a question.. I don't want to ask nobody for favors..
I mean no asking for scraps of waste or anything..
Is it harder by yourself.
ill still take the hard way or the hardest way.. its the only way
I've never seen these before. I wonder if we have them in NZ
I know you covered it with cardboard but do you actually cover the box with the lid to keep the rain out
Bear Grylls of gardening right here
I thought the compost needed to get hot, so you put it in a hot area of the garden???
This guy is so fu**ing sweet.
if you use shredded paper, aren't you concerned about the toxins in the ink of the paper?
I absolutely love him. What a beautiful country and very down to earth personality. Thank you!!
can i use paper money?
It's never as simple as they claim. Never put diseased plants from your garden in the compost pile. Never put weeds with seed heads in the pile. If you're going to be adding to the pile all year as you work in the garden (like most people), you can't expect it to be finished all at the same time. Never put woody branches in the pile – they wont' break down in time unless you shred them first. And last but not least, if your pile isn't hot to the touch inside the pile, it's not 'composting.' The nitrogen in the pile (like from grass clippings) will get used up, and the bacteria that's doing all the work will quit breaking down the plant material. When that happens, you need to turn the pile and add more nitrogen-containing material. A pile that's not hot will take years – literally – to break down.
Can I use it as a toilet?
Wow! Your garden is like a dream place for me, I am so interested in gardening but have no space to plant them.
