  1. i'm always impressed by your fruit trees, from your blog I know I'm not that many miles from you and I have the hardest time growing fruit trees … pawpaws, figs, plums do great, not so much for anything else (apples, pears, peach, cherries) and I have only used cold hardy recommended varieties by kentucky ag dept. I am using dwarf trees in high density plantings, so 4 trees in 5×5 box. I have around 40 trees. They were doing great until the deer got them last fall … just ordered 12 more to expand and replace what didn't make it. I ended up building a fence around them this past week because the deer got my plums just as they were starting to get leaves, only 1 of my 4 peach trees have leaves, none of my 6 apples, 4 cherries, or 4 pears. All of my pawpaws seem to be doing well, 5 different varieties, 1 even has 4 different fruit flowers.
