Try 'blue waterfall' bellflower and/or red-stemmed Malabar spinach in the tires … both are perennial, both produce attractive cascades of foliage and/or flowers, and both can be picked for salad greens. They can also be stacked up and filled with straw as your indeterminate potatos grow, as an alternative to hilling those spuds with dirt!

Have you looked for La Manchas from Hammock Haven Farm in Midland, GA? I used to live near them and buy their milk…so tasty. She's a homeschool mom and a great goat resource, I think.

Aaawww….KG is so cute. My aunt feeds neighborhood cats who hang out but don't really have a home. One is a black version of your little KG and she calls him George Bushy for his bushy tail! 😉

You could stack the tires for raised beds for growing things like potatoes.
When I was really little late 60's my family lived out in the country and my parents had those white tires all over the place with flowers and other plants in them .. I'm curious could the tires be used for raised gardening sometimes you'll see old tires thrown out piled up on the side of the roads..

So much has happened in such a short time! It’s so encouraging to me, to see where you were in just a year and a half ago.
How do you keep birds from eating up your seedlings/seeds? We made our raised garden in the 4×4 squares, and then made ‘cages’ out of wood and chicken wire to cover the squares, until the plants get bigger.
When I put trellises in the squares on the north end of the garden, the cages had a tiny gap on the front edge….and a mocking bird made his way in and ate my cantaloupe seedlings, nearly harmed my zucchini, and was just making himself at home, giving himself a dirt bath. We have since had to place some boards for the time being one the front edge of the cages on the trellised squares. But in no way can I leave my new tiny plants unprotected from the birds here (Arizona).
I don’t have a green house, so my husband made me a tiny little cage for placing over a seed starting tray, to start more seeds in outdoors. Works out great!
The birds here are pretty predatory…..they are always looking down at our yard, squawking. A little over 3 years ago, an owl tried to take my little Jack Russell Terrier away! Yeah, predatory! She stays indoors, but went out to use the bathroom in the very early morning hours before the sun came up. I guess we just have more vicious birds here.
Now Google is reading my *mind*. I was wondering just yesterday about the tires.
