  1. We've had a solar electric tractor on our 40 acre cert organic farm for 10 years. We love it! We use our diesel tractor rarely and Sparky daily. The inverter runs our small electric tools as a power supply. Solar panels in the field help. Cheering on electric tractors along with EVs and electric bikes.

  2. What is the cost per hour? electric versus diesel. because you see these dairy farms that are turning their manure into biogas for electricity.

I'm looking at it from the perspective of not requiring outside energy for production.

if the form could capture the carbon produced from the methane production in a biodigester. the carbon produced from the methane could be used to form algae oil.

also looking at it from the perspective of bio algae oil. burn the allergy oil in a generator for even more electricity.

  3. @ Curtis – can you post a video of the tractor performing real tractor work? or direct me to a link that does? Love the technology, love the concept, invested in IDEX…but have yet to find ANY videos showing the Solectrac machine performing front end lifting, scraping, or tilling work. Seems strange not to promote these features.

  4. Electricity has a environmental impact also and the U.S. power grid is already overloaded in many areas in country.. so l have serious doubts about electric cars and tractors being viable options

  5. Issues with electric vehicles that people don't talk about, the energy required to mine cobalt and lithium. That's not to mention the human rights issues related to mining in Africa related to child labor abuse. Cool tractor but to think that electric vehicles powered by batteries from China are clean on the environment is not accurate.

  6. i mean, we are planning to get some land in the future and seeing that tractor is eye opening.
if power is an issue, just run power lines around the property and essentially plug it when you use the pto or when you don't use it.
and it's about the same price as the diesel ones.

  7. 4 to 5 hours is perfect, by that point you pull up to the Barn plug-in go have lunch and by the time you use the restroom and taken a stretch you're ready to work until dinner. This of course is assuming that they're able to incorporate tesla-style fast-charging in this or Future model.
