Great job on growing slips. I plant sweet potatoes every year. Something that I do is lay down black plastic and cut holes for plants to grow through. This helps keep the soil warmer throughout the season. Just a thought in case you don't get much of a crop. Keep us posted. Thank you for sharing Oppie.
Well Sir if anyone can grow sweet taters up there then it will be you!! I have no doubt in my mind they are going to grow gang busters for ya buddy! Hope you have a great Sunday and week!
I love experiments! Good luck!
Something worth growing is the question. I grew peas for the first time this year, and I didn't realize how much it took to feed a family. I can't grow tubers very well because my soil PH is at 7.0
get r done! Interesting seeing tubulars already. I tried to grow sweet potatoes before but gave them up since they never did anything for me but take up space, of course I never tried to start them early indoors either.
Check with Jim over at Midwest Gardener about growing sweet potatoes in containers. He's using grow bags for some of his. I don't recall how many gallons they are, but they look large when he pans out with the camera. He's in Zone 6b.
Oh I cant wait to see how well they will do for you.
I am in the Chicago suburbs and we have no problems growing sweet potatoes. You are right lucky those rabbits are cute. We don't have a too many rabbit problem we have a lack of coyote problem.
New to your channel,! When exactly did you start your sweet potatoes in water? We are in Illinois zone 5b and have grown sweet potatoes from store bought plants which are hard to find. We grew then in the ground and when we harvested they had been eaten by something. Growing in containers this year. Hoping for the best. Thanks for the video!,!
