  1. And if I'm not mistaken, anybody that wants to try out the "3 sisters method" which includes Corn, Pole beans, & squash should reconsider since that method is not for fresh harvesting.

  2. Do you have to detassel home grown corn stalks?

I remember as a kid going through acres of farm fields detasseling every other row of corn. Not sure what the difference between farm grown/home grown.

  3. As a kid I learned to cultivate the corn around the base to keep soil loose for oxygen and water absorption and to keep weeds in check . Doesn’t anyone do it anymore

  4. There were some unpopped kernels of popcorn from my paper popcorn bag that I just threw out onto the ground and corn started growing! I'm a farmer now!

  5. 1. Start with fresh corn seeds for the best results.

    2. Directly sow seeds approximately 1.5 to 2 inches deep and 4 to 6 inches apart.

    3. Cover with soil, space your rows of seeds 30 to 36

    inches apart.

    4. Water your block of corn well after planting.

    5. Corn stalks are sturdy and should not need staking.
