We get asked all the time about starting out in YouTube, so I shot and edited this entire video on my phone just to show it can be done.

I want to clarify, after editing this footage, that a lot of the issues with this video (namely the audio) were totally user error. I haven’t shot a video on my cell phone in years and totally goofed a few times by covering the mic. There were some issues that made me consider not posting this, but I really wanted to share the message that things don’t have to be perfect to be valuable. So I’m sharing it. I hope this served to encourage those of you on the fence to just get started with what you have. You have something valuable to say! Don’t let your circumstances hold you back from sharing!
I like your from house.
Did you do a special effect on that moth flying around in the beginning shot to make it glow?
I can't say thank you enough for this video! I started my first garden this year and decided to try vlogging. I'm also a public school teacher. Between the hustle and bustle of school starting, and only having a phone with very limited storage space, I have put off vlogging and my garden for the past couple of months. This gave me the motivation to get back out, clean up my garden, and shoot another VLOG or two.
Thank you again!
Did you say recently , you'd like to know what we'd like to know or to see. Well I,d like to see more of how the anima!s behave, so some just watching them, rather than little moments. Like I've wondered, are the alpaca ever playful? I've seen goats be playful. They seem to have a lot of personality.
I coulda watched the goats eat the boy's garden for at least an hour.
I can imagine them recorded from the camera positioned inside the fencd, to see their faces peek in, & start to eat, one by ome, until it's all gone.
What fun for the boys to see,& later, sped up from start to finish.
How long did it take them to eat it all?
I never see you pet the alpacas. Won't they let you?
Don't feel bad, everyone covers the mic the first time or two they vlog with a phone. Like where even IS it?
very encouraging, thank you for this!
Not your typical video but this was so timely! I needed to hear your reminder. I am amazed how God works!! Thank you for sharing.
Did any see the cat on the fence when jess was talking about transplanting peppers?
Loved your video and that your life is normal and that you are sharing it with the world.
You did awesome Jess !!!! Perfect,,, It makes others see that you are really, real !! Thank you !
Omg your sage grow so well too
Thanks jess. Im 2 weeks behind on vids and clearly its because i needed this video today. i just did a garden tour for my insta and was freaking out about showing my face on it. AFter like 400 takes i finally feel like i can add that part to the vid and will go post it right now.
I hope you see this – your heart is a blessing to me. You are so peace full.
Excellent advice, my phone takes almost better photos than my Nikon lol Actually I should test my Nikon's video capabilities!!
I have three tomato plants. I'm English and 68 year's old love your family and video's thank you for making my day.
you always have the best advice, i am learning so much from you and the others i watch on here (you name some from time to time). being out in my yard (future garden) is the best therapy i could find for myself. i grew up with my elders who would always have a garden, its one of my most cherished memories i had as a child, just being out in nature and its beauty. i have been recording some of my garden projects and such of myself and with my children. and this video just so happen to be where i am at with sharing my videos diaries and my insecurities (i have many). i am so thankful i found your channel, and now i am binge watching as many as i can!! LOL
Thank you for making this video. I needed it.
Your honesty is so refreshing! I am a real person like you are. A lot of my family are very private and wouldn't want their lives on YouTube. I would like to start a YouTube gardening channel but I am doing the picking on myself routine. . My daughter and I started filming our gardening adventures this spring on my phone. I just need the courage to start it now.
The fireflies are so wonderful in the summer! They bring great memories
I'm watching this video for the second time. I watched it a year ago. Between then and now, I took your encouragement and "just started." Thanks for the encouragement, friend!
Hey Jesse, save the seeds from "dancing with smurfs " in the kids garden!
How have I never noticed that gorgeous tree? 11:05 it truly looks just magnificent
Iove watching how good you are with Ben, teaching him the basics of gardening.
How cool is it that 1 year ago you were at close to 200,000 subscribers and as of today, you're at over 459k!!! God is SO awesome and thank you for being consistent and patient with all of us
