Remember tho fresh chips has to sit for 1 season before used or its toxic to your garden..
I would use that to break down plant matter for faster composting.
My resources were: I googled tree services in my area and emailed them, they delivered some of the bigger chips into my yard for free . Supposedly these companies are always looking for areas to dump so they don't have to drive to their usual dumping areas My most recent resource came with in hours of posting on facebook marketplace and local classified groups in my area also on facebook. This happened just yesterday. I posted a wanted ad asking for old/spoiled hay, grass clippings, leaves and wood chips for the purpose of no till gardening. With in 3 hours I had two people contact me. The first said he can bag his mower and save me the grass clippings. the second is a guy who does woodworking for a living and said he has 30 sixty pound bags of sawdust already ready for me if I wanted them, and would always have more as he worked on more projects. Heck yes!
Have you met the mulch man, the mulch man, the mulch man. Have you met the mulch man that lives on …. lane
How is chipper holding up? I am seriously considering…..Chips hard to come by here in the desert (ChipDrop not active around here) but I have an unusual unlimited wood source….I repurpose pallets and about 50% are waste product. My only concern is nails imbeded. I see the cutting blades are $25 per set and they look to be sharpenable? Any thoughts?
I’ve seen a great little kiwi channel on No Dig Gardens called “Home Grown Happiness” worth a look for how to with a smaller garden
I've been using chipdrop.com but they don't service all areas
We got one of these machines when we first started up the homestead and it was a pain. We didn’t get much out of it for all the time we were out there.
Add a tarp to blow them on
Question: We do have a few local tree removal services that offer up their wood chips for free. However, I've been told that often when they bring a tree down, it's because the tree is dead or dying, and often diseased. So I've been warned that those chips would very likely introduce fungus and disease into my garden. Anyone have knowledge/experience with this, and is it a potential issue even when purchasing mulch commercially?
money. Offer the drivers money. They will find the time if you provide them a carrot.
Thanks for sharing! We are in the same boat and have debated on purchasing one…..thanks again. God bless ❤️
Miah you should check out the local sawmills. My hubby works in a saw mill and they always have it!
The Gardening Channel with James Prigioni. He has it all with the wood chips etc. One of his gardens is 7 Years Old and one is 1 year old. Back to Eden but so simple. He uses brown paper to lay down to get rid of grass with chips on top.. Anyway here in Louisiana we have no one to bring wood chips either so I am doing pine chips in the pet section from WalMart to amend somewhat. All his videos are very informative and his production of fruits and vegetables is crazy!! I want my whole yard woodchiped now.lol. Have a great day! Might buy a woodchipper one day….
That’s brilliant! Making your own mulch
I’m having hard time to get mulch from the website too
That’s a brilliant idea
Hey Miah, good to see you again, leading this video! Thank you for sharing.
I will be following your efforts for building that perennial back-to-Eden-style garden closely. We will hopefully get our little piece of rented land next season and then I need your knowledge and experience to follow. 😉 Thank you for putting yourselves out-there to be an inspiration for the rest of us <3 We bless you.
We called our power company they deliver for free when trimming trees.
I struggle to get mulch too. I stretch the mulch I do have by putting cardboard under my mulch in the pathways so I only need a small ammount
Yes I watched him too and found it amazing
I thought by looking at the machine you were going to put the sticks in the top area and it shoots it out the area where you were putting in the sticks? That looked like more tedious work because you had to feed one by one?.
Oh Miah I Love That You Were behind schedule because You Believe That Sharing with & Teaching Ben is a Priority♥️. This is a big part of Why I Love Your Family & Your Videos❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
You can feed in the top
Como prendo una maquina de esas
Mine worked for 1 season, only made it through that after replacing the knives (warranty) now won't start (seems no spark?)… weak quality all around.
Nice folks! Review starts here: https://youtu.be/f9OAzRY7roQ?t=815
I have a harbor freight wood chipper that looks about the same. Runs great! Having trouble changing the blades out! I use a machete to make quick work of side branches! Had my chipper for 4yrs, still runs great just needs some TLC! Thanks guys!
First and last time viewer. Your video is titled “Great Circle Wood Chipper Review”. I watched for 9 minutes and 17 seconds (not including 30 seconds of YouTube advertisements) you talked about how so many companies approach you to advertise their products but you never showed the chipper in operation once during the first 9+ minutes of an 18 minute video.
