Beautiful!
Yes she does make beautiful bead necklaces
Unfortunately my elders are all gone. I've done some work on my ancestors, but alas my computer was hit by lightning. I cried. I have some paperwork, but not very much. There is supposed to be Cherokee on two sides. But no one talked about it. I love the old Cemeterys ! The emblems on them are fascinating.
I could tell from the very beginning how you looked over those mountains at North Carolina it was pulling you. Even then. I felt it.
My Mother's maiden name was Hall.
wow!
Surely did enjoy the river and all you took us to see! Beautiful day by a gorgeous river! What great info you already gleaned / dug up! I barely saw my grandmother’s face bc she was hunkered down into genealogy all the time. It as everybody else’s ! Not ours, she clipped and filed away entire family trees for ppl and sold them for $15 . I couldn’t tell if it was her hobby or what but she did stop one day long snug to scoop me up onto her lap and tell me I was from good stock! Then explained what that meant as with good cows pairing with good bulls to have good calves. Same with ppl. I needed to marry someone from good stock bc I am from good stock. She also told me I was built for child-bearing bc my hips were wide. ( now how many g-ma’s were there out there saying things like this to their grands? I have to wonder). Anyway, I blinked and she was back to her shoeboxes filled with genealogy.
Shoal creekis where i am. Thats crazy!
What graveyard is that? Love Murphy and love YOU! Y'all come over for "feet in the creek" (Owl Creek) next time your in the neighborhood. We are in Hanging Dog
I learn something new every time I bring visitors to the Trail of Tears museum here in Murphy. For instance, last time I found out Joe Brown highway WAS the Trail. That its been a byway for 100+ years. Now I think about that when I drive on it every day
Cherokee county NC, Murphy NC is where I'm from. I moved away 4 years ago to Oregon for a job. I went to Ranger school, and Graduated from Hiwassee Dam High School in 2001. I miss it there, but I do love it where I live now, but Murphy will always be my home. It is beautiful there. I love this video so much! Thank you for sharing!
So beautiful!
What a pretty area! Love the turtle.
How sweet to have a special pair of corn beads made for you when you renew your wedding vows! She is a very special lady!
Love these videos. The colour and peaceful movement of that water are just captivating.
So beautiful! You are blessed!xxoo
I go there a lot, love that place!
So fun to see Murphy. Just came back from that area a few days ago (Topton, NC US 19/129)). My dad was born in Murphy. It is my favorite place on earth.
Well done, Patara. Great advice. I'm lucky because someone has done that research already and our aboriginal family was well documented. What a beautiful place. My family has a place that feels the same to us. Whenever I visit, I feel such a homecoming and connection. It's sacred to the Cree. There's no place like home.
So beautiful there. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful river and so clean & clear. Thank you for sharing the beauty.
I love the thrill and chills of the hunt and the finding of the roots
My wife is from hiwassee dam. We were just below the dam about a month ago for a nephew's baptism.
