Make your own potting and seedling mix! In this video, I show you how to make an extremely cost effective, yet better-than-commercial potting and plug soil mixture. Using compost, coco-fiber, alfalfa meal, canola meal, epsom salts, and rock dust, you can make some of the best potting mixtures for your transplants, plugs, seedling trays, small pots, and container gardens imaginable. Great for Cannabis grow operations as well, although I would add an aeration agent such as pumice or perlite for those applications.

I make mine with compost, peat moss, perlite, vermiculite, alfalfa meal, blood meal, bone meal, epsom salts, rock dust and a trace of boron. I will have to look into the canola meal.
Fall planting? Obviously you meant "wiping the cobwebs off the snow shovel" 🙂
Alfalfa meal really changed the game for me. Especially for seedling plugs. I don't know if it affected germination rates, but it definitely seems to help the little seedlings get established faster!
Would ground pinecones work instead of coconut core?
