Hello I really like gardening and plants
Curtis, when you will upload video about Gregory Alan Isakov's farm?
Fantastic! Greatly agree that it's just as interesting (if not more) to hear what didn't go well than what did go well.
I didn't understand the reason to grow in "real" ground. If the soil in the container has too low of cation exchange capacity, it would be simple to alter it. not so easy with the ground. I suspect it has to do with lack of microbial life (and the whole system that produce natural fertilizers) in the container, but that could also be remedied.
I've invented light reflecting insulation shutters that mount on the inside and flip up insulation panels for the outside. Hit me up, I'll send over some schematics.
Winter overheated daytime air can be drawn off the ceiling and pumped into ground for night time release.
DIY Air Crete has unusual properties of insulation and thermal mass. Check out Honey Do Carpenter, he has some knowledge that would benefit you.
I thought one of the biggest appeals of rocket heaters is that you don't have to feed them very often. What am I missing?
Shout out from Calgary!
The two of you sound almost exactly alike!
Love your channel. I have learned a lot from you. However, I don’t like the “passive energy” craze being pushed when people are using “petroleum and petrochemical” products to live the lifestyle they’re living. The vapor barrier in the solar panels is made from 1113 chloral-tetra-fluoride. To make it oil must be refined and the byproducts of the oil must be refined just to get the feedstock to make it. Without it solar cells would not work. If you want to push passive energy then get rid of all your plastic, rubber, and anything else made from oil and gas products as fuel ie no perfect lumber, no modern roads, no mass produced steel, etc. If we go back to wood for heat we would deplete our forests quickly and our pollution would go up. Oh and get rid of modern medicine it just wouldn’t exist. Your guest as an engineer should know better.
It was nice to hear of the properties of polycarbonate vs glass. Thanks
For some different and potentially better rocket mass heater designs check out the broaudio YT channel which is the home of Walker Stoves.
He has some amazing examples of stoves including batch loaded stoves which only require filling every 1-2 hours.
Thank you for being so honest we appreciate everything you said about your greenhouse experience
Thank you Curtis and Rob for this valuable information! I really appreciate everything you guys are doing!
When was this recorded? There’s two feet of snow here now
What about setting up a pellet feeder for the rocket stove?
whats going on? comments are back on this channel?
I'm starting a build on my own passive solar greenhouse and would love to take your course, but I have to put every penny into the build. I'm doing a hybrid 30×80 using ideas from citrus in the snow, Chinese passive, Ceres, and Curtis's design. Sunk 5' on a slope w/ inflated poly, earth tubes, passive venting, gray water w/ auqaponics and roll up insulation.. Hoping to have it filled with cbd hemp next year. Zone 4. Thanks for all you're doing.
Is that Joe Rogans brother ?
Good stuff!
I love the way Rob Avis looks like he's got a pointy haircut, very fetching.
Avis is awesome. Great info
Great ideas… We need to rebuild well fix our front porch… It is all windows but meant to be used as a cold room in the winter… 100 years ago they used these indoor outdoor rooms to keep the meat frozen so it's not on the right side of the house for a greenhouse…. Ideas tho I'm into
Great video lots of information here.
So is he saying glazing anger should be " flatter" or steeper ? I am about to start building something like this . I would really like it to turn out right .
