We used to live about a mile from there in Fort Oglethorpe GA. Beautiful area, I miss walking the trails with my family and seeing all the history!
Appalachia's Homestead with Patara :I've been working on my Genealogy for maybe 9 or 10 year.I love hearing about your family as much as I do mine .Thank You.
Oh Patara I grew up about 15 minutes south of the Chickamauga battlefield. When I was a teenager we use to ride horses through the park. When my children were little I went with them on field trips to the museum.I am a little farther south of there now,but we ride through that park every few weeks when I take my mama to Chattanooga to the doctor.I hope you found the information you were searching for,
Thank you for taking us along. Our Genealogy is never complete & it is so important to know it. You have such a beautiful heritage. Be proud of it. Much love, sweet lady.
Traitors to the Confederacy must have been tough living in the South after that…amazing ancestors to change sides in the middle of a war.
My great grandfather fought at Chicamauga, attached to the 96th Illinois regiment.
Gave me the goosebumps! Wonderful video!! Xxoo
I am sitting in the park right now. Fixing to go walking. Very peaceful today. I am a local so I get to visit often…
Very cool! Thanks for sharing. ❤️
THANK YOU!
I enjoy and appreciate you taking us along on your journey.
Thank you the place is very interesting and the Genealogy is fascinating!
Keep looking, my husband just got done tracking his family back to the 1600. To take it back any further we would have to go to the UK. We are in our 70’s and our health would have to be better for traveling like that, just wanted to let you know that it can be done it just may take awhile.
Love that you have a passion for your history, keep up the good work.
What I just went through there yesterday! I only live like 15 minutes away from the battlefield.
Thank you for taking us along. I think everyone who can to visit. On one trip we went on a Ranger led hike. I wasn’t expecting much. I was very impressed and glad I did the walk.
It made me feel proud that I was told when I was around 9 years old that I am part Cherokee. Loved watching Cowboy and Indians at that age because I thought the Indian maidens were beautiful. Loved how they dressed.
I live 20 minutes away from the battlefield and we enjoy visiting it often!
I live just right outside of the Chickamauga Battlefield. It's always been such a beautiful State Park. Lots of history here! I would love to get in to genealogy to see if any of my family faught here.
That was awesome! So much to take in! That demo of shooting comparisons was pretty telling of the circumstances of this battle. Thank you for letting us come along.
My Great-Great Granddaddy was in the 2nd Virginia of the Stonewall Brigade……was discharged in 1863 before Gettysburg
My 5th grandma was Lucy Bearpaw . She married a Thomas in Cherokee NC.
When they and their children were forced to walk the trail of Tears to OK, he died on the way.
Lucy decided to sneak herself and children of trail . She succeeded and took them to her FIL Thomas in KY and said she would raise her children as “ white Indians “ and she did.
I live 11/2 miles from Wilder Tower. Your friend from Chickamauga ❣
