Growing Kale is easy! This super food is an essential staple in your backyard garden, and in this video, I’ll show you how to grow the best Kale for your growing space. Kale is a nutrient-dense leafy biennial, that is very undemanding in the modern garden, and has very few requirements beyond simply compost amendments and moderate watering.

Kale grows best and tastes the best in the spring and fall, when the temperatures are cooler. In northern climates, give your Kale full sunlight, while in warmer regions, you may need to plant in partial shade.

  1. My kale is doing almost too well. The leaves are so thick that it feels like I’m eating thick construction paper haha. I like putting leaves of kale on top of uncooked rice in my pressure cook after cutting out the vein. It cooks with the rice and then I stir it into the rice since it shreds apart easily. None of the nutrients gets lost since it is pressure cooked and really adds some nice green to my rice or quinoa! Here in coastal Northern California zone 9b

  2. Great video, thanks. My Red Russian Kale is doing well but has a lot of holes from something eating it. I noticed some of your kale has the same kind of holes. I can't find whats eating it but is this something to be concerned about and is okay to give friends kale with holes everywhere!
