In this video, I show you my new HANSA Chipper/shredder that I have been testing for the past few months in our garden to make valuable mulch and chipped garden waste for compost.

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Just bought a troybilt here in Virginia. Second hand, but got it for a fraction of new. Loving it.
It's amazing that I've chipped a bunch of branches, yet it ends up as very little mulch. It's fine enough to just scatter around the yard.
coupla woofters
Your a good man…well deserved sponsor to a well deserved man!
Just chuck the brown snakes into the mulcher. Great for the garden.
I have a similar chipper and have a problem with its design. It accepts only the straightest, “cleanest” branches and debris. I have a lot of curvy branches and ones with a lot of side branches, which won’t feed through.
Almost $6k for that chipper
$5600 – bit much for my budget although I would love one.
amazing. i wish i could own one one day!
Now he’s Self Sufficient Me 4 real lol
Very cool! Any chance of you doing a follow up?
Doesn’t look like it’s available in the USA
He looks like he was having a lot of fun.
Bit of toying around, hope you feed it somthing decent.
What A Ripper.Thumbs Up Mate !
Wish we'd bought a Chipper! have a Shredder but it's a long process.
If I could till the soil , plough the soil also on this machine I would get one ASAP
What a great machine. I want one!! 🙂
cant see $6500
From one former soldier to another (and I’m also deaf). Thanks for your channel.
What a great look at a good looking product.
Does John know a retailer in Toowoomba?
I’m very excited to get using a decent product.
I’m on 5 acres and I’ve been preserving with a much smaller petrol driven chipper. Using it takes for ever to do a small amount of work, so much so that I haven’t used it for some time. It’s just not worth wheeling out.
BOOOOOOM
this is a really sexy machine
Congratulations Mark. That's the duck's guts!!
palms are very corrosive so hose him out after putting them through it.
BIG thumbs up mate!
everyone should do this to save mother earth…recycle everything
I need a shredder for branches and canes but also for end of season garden waste like broccoli, tomatoes and vines such as cantaloupe. How well will it handle the later group?
I hadn't heard of Hansa, but this was a great intro. I appreciate that they responded like this, and the machine has several nice features (e.g., belt engagement, easy access to fly wheel, etc.). Very impressed.
Love your videos. Cool chipper Hansa!
Thanks Mark always enjoy watching your vids…. I was looking to hire here in nz but after watching this, I now know about Hansa chippers.. Looks worth the investment. Cheers
