Today, I’m showing you how I make homemade elderberry syrup, a powerful homemade remedy.
Products used in this video:
Dried Elderberries: https://amzn.to/2pA2Oeg
Dried Rose Hips: https://amzn.to/2PQzNWq
Swing-top Glass Bottles: https://amzn.to/36Eh06j
Recipe:
3/4 C. Dried Elderberries
3 Cinnamon Sticks
2 T. shredded fresh ginger
1 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 C. dried rose hips.
3 1/2 C. Water
1 C. Raw Honey
Put all ingredients except honey in a heavy bottom pot and bring to boil over medium high heat. As soon as boil begins, drop heat to simmer and cover. Simmer 45 minutes.
Turn off the heat and let the product cool to the point it can be handled. Removed cinnamon sticks and mash contents with a spoon or masher. Press through fine mesh sieve, squeeze through cheese cloth or put through juicer.
Mix 1 cup of honey into the resulting juice. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a few months. Take a spoonful daily or as needed.
I've never made it but, I have been using it for probably 12 years. There is a Holistic store near me and the herbalist there makes it and other holistic remedies that is sold there.

Anyone know how to alter the recipe if using fresh elderberries?
Do you use English or American berries? I'm right about cyanide in the English berries, but it can be cooked. I want to make sure that I have the right recipe for the right berries!
Your videos are always so helpful!
It’s that time of the year again, up next Jess’ fire cider video.
Could one put the elderberries in the honey and let it steep? Would it work without adding water?
Love it, have you tried camu camu powder? I make elderberry syrup every year around this time but a friend of mine told me to add camu camu because of its extremely high vitamin c content ♡
Been buying the Walmart gummies for couple years but didn't really trust what I was getting. Thanks so much for the recipe , we made it and love it. no more Walmart gummies.
I didn't realize how expensive they are. I definitely take for granted that they grow wild all over here
This is helpful, wish you had a food medicine Playlist. I've watched your videos for gardening and chickens but when I searched elderberry syrup I was like hey I know her! Haha
I wanna know your herbal medicine cabinet! What else do you do?
It cost me $41.99 Canadian to get a pound of Organic Elderberrys from Amazon.
Thank you so much! I’m going to make it now.
I made my own once but it doesn't last long enough.
Earthley.com has an elderberry elixir that's great and last for a while.
You can also forage for Elderberry in a lot of places
Over 3 minutes in still waiting on how to make it
I grow elderberries to help shade my chicken coop….two plants produced about 4 gallons of berries in their second summer. Very easy to grow your own and make homemade syrup!
Gathered wild elderberry, so happy to find your video. I'm making syrup today.
Searching for a syrup recipe and I come across yours. Im already a subscriber so very happy I found this video. Im using fresh berries from a secret patch that took me 5 years to find. Also using honey from my Uncles farm.
I just discovered tons of wild elderberry trees on my property. They are bushes but huge!!! The smell of the blossoms in the spring is amazing. You are my go to girl for my gardening and herbal stuff. Thank you for being you.
Sorry, I don't believe that babies under one years old can't have honey. SIDS is from vaccinations not honey. We have been lied to about everything.
I love how you encourage us to use our inner wisdom with dosage, etc. So rarely heard, and so important. Thanks sista!
Amazing and wise initial presentation! Solid advice!
I made my first batch ever Jess! Ty for getting me inspired to use the elder berries in our local food forest! Yum I put my own intuitive twists on it.
Just bought some dried elderberries. Hope you still get credit. Thanks for the recipe
