  1. I know all about google analytics, been there done that. But unfortunately it depends on ads, a lot of people disable ads using various progs, me included, I actively encourage people to use them. I never see an ad on here EVER. It's sad I know because I love your videos.

  2. Great video you two. Morgan, wow, you are a whole 'nother beast when you talk about this stuff. Impressive! Both of you. I have no intention of ever starting a Youtube channel, but yet I listened to you both and I find it very interesting. So, IMHO, added to your cocktail of numbers is the human factor. Do you have charisma? Are you engaging and positive? Did you cover something in the last video that you promised would continue in the next one? Do you own fowl? (wink, so do I) I hate click bait. You both have different styles, but you both are interesting. Wow, I never comment, but that was a lot. LOL.

  3. Kudos to you both for doing this for free, you're really blessing people. I watch y'all on my tv. Sometimes I get on my computer, click on what I watched, give you a thumbs up, read a little of the comments and then get off. I agree w/y'all about the intro's, I don't like them. 2 questions…..1) do you lose if I fast forward thru someone building on and on (I'm not a builder). 2) never mind you just answered my question about the ads cause I've seen some inappropriate, not r-rated but about some social justice things that as a Christian I just click off the ad asap. Luv both your channels, keep up the good work!

  4. Fantastic information. The feedback you provided about what you saw with intros and long dwell shots has me rethinking how I'm going to do video when I'm out working on my place this weekend. Thanks for taking the time to help the rest of us make our channels better.

  5. Im only 8 videos in on my channel and around 30 views a video so far, but one day I'll get there! Thanks so much for being a great educational resource!

  6. Authenticity is arguably the most import part of our human experience. In my opinion at least. That's why Jess is so powerful to me. I believe her. Even if I don't agree. I believe her and accept her as she is, and it's beautiful. The folks that aren't authentic just don't grab my attention. Thank you for all of this.

  7. Thank you for this series! I'm just starting out with YT. Part 1 gave me lots to think about (as did Part 2 & now this one)… main thing – to find my voice. I've been looking for it for years!
BTW: I'm glad to know creators with intros can know they get skipped over. It's such a waste of bandwidth – and time!

  8. thanks for this video. what are you doing about COPPA? I feel sorry for channels like yours because your income is going to be drastically cut. as I understand it, if you have any children in a video, there will be no comments allowed and probably no ads allowed. I only have a few videos with kids in them so I set my channel as not for kids and made sure comments are disabled for ones that do have kids in them. that would be most of yours though.

  9. I agree completely with Jessica about constantly changing the visuals. People who are looking for good examples of dynamic editing, Cog Hill Farm absolutely masters this. I’d watch Jason read the phone book because he’d find some way to make it visually engaging. Morgan’s channel is a close second and another great example of how to keep people watching.~Heather

  10. Okay. I did it. I took the plunge and posted my first video. It's just a simple little tour of how I decorated my new home for Christmas, nothing spectacular. I will admit it is rough, very rough. But I look at it as practice for things to come. How do I feel? Terrified. And relieved….that I took the first step. Where it goes now is anybody's guess. Thank you, Jess, for giving me the encouragement and the tools to help me.

  11. Hey Jess and Morgan, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience about this. I never thought I would want to know, but now that I know, I am stoked to get my videos rolling and learn to edit… Now I need to learn to scratch not everything out since I will probably have everything negative enlarged in my mind 😀 And need to learn to see my own face on screen in stead of me being behind the camera all the time… 😛
    Thanks for this video series!

Blessings and love from The Netherlands/Holland,
    Diana

  12. 16:02 surely this is playing to the algorithms of with shorter and shorter attention spans like those people with

    ADH OH look a cow….
: P seriously thou sometimes there is nothing better than to get that long sweeping shot or just stationary and being still for a moment so pah to the algorithm.

I bet if Jess setup a camera and just recorded the dawn and the bird singing that would get as much traffic as long as people knew what it was before watching some times its good to be still.

  13. This is long & Congratulations on your success.
Okay, I understood you didn't monetize your videos and take advertising & sponsor money on products YouTube promotes. So now you're saying you do this and get paid for it? I don't have a problem with making money doing what you enjoy, YouTube, Musician, Actor, Wal-Mart Greeter etc. But you need to be clear if this is a monetized channel/video or not… It's a big deal if you say you're not getting paid, directly, but are getting paid indirectly. It's a little misreading when you say you're not making any money to say or do this or not getting paid to say or do this. Just a thought on your choice of words. I have been watching you from the early days. I've been following some other Youtubers from before they were Youtubers on Tumblr for example and I think it's great you and them can make money doing this. SV DELOS (Brian) quit his job & sold everything he owned to live a stress free life sailing around the world. He had always been straight up front asking for SUBS, Donations, and buying merch, if you liked what he was doing. It financed his Dream of sailing (10+ years) around the world and in return he shares his adventures on social media. Thanks for sharing and I hope you don't let YouTube's misuse of COPPA affect your zeal for creating wholesome content.

  14. I've purchased a selfie stick and have been "practicing". Walking the dogs to the barn and finding my voice!! I didn't realize I was so funny! Thanks for this series of videos as they are a great confidence booster!

  15. So, I feel like I super suck at this. I know you are super busy with the HUGE harvest coming in from the high tunnel, wedding company recovery, and just getting over the hurricane. I hoe you see this eventually! Thank you for these, this is my 3ed time through them, from when they were posted. I am letting faith outshine my fear and have a goal of posting 4 days a week and whenever the "but what if" comes into my brain I am going to pause and pray about my lack of faith in this and preserver through it. "Thank you" isn't even enough.

  16. It’s funny because I always skip people’s intros and I love that your channel doesn’t have one. Love all you’re content though. Im watching your videos that are coming out now while also watching your older videos like a movie. Just set it as a playlist and keep going.

  17. Jess I like your channel the best. Some YouTubers try to hard and remind me of a salesperson.
I dislike intros because I can figure out how to hit the subscribe button and I’ve watched the channel before.
I love long videos by those I follow. I especially like baby animals and your kids.
We did something similar with 80 acres in SW MO in the 70’s. We each drove one hours to work and back so we bought 20 acres of wooded land closer to town.
Now retired my husband gardens and I have a container garden. I dislike having to ask people for help even though they do so graciously. Hopefully I can do the rest now.
Oh, I never hit like because coming back means I love your channel.
I will check out Goldshaw Farm.
Take care, You’re family is loved by many.
