Johnathan Todd of Todd Ecological leads us in building a living pond restoration system at our main educational farm. We will construct a river cane floating island embedded with plantings whose roots will grow beneath it and help aerate and clean the pond, which is suffering from algae overgrowth and anaerobicity. See all the steps in this process from mixing the planting medium to building the island and finally, setting it afloat on the water to begin its natural biological filtration process to improve the health of the pond and its ecosystem at the farm.
