VIDEO: Growing Garlic Indoors, In The Winter, Planting Late, And Warm Climates

Growing Garlic, Even In Winter! In this video, I show you how you can still grow successful garlic bulbs, even if you missed the fall planting window. Also, if you live in a warm climate, where garlic does not traditionally grow, its ok. You can STILL grow nice organic garlic bulbs, no problem.

Garlic is one of the best crops for beginners and veteran gardeners alike. It is a low maintenance plant that you can grow through the winter, in containers, with little to no gardening experience.

  1. Can grocery store garlic be used even if it is not labeled as organic? Can garlic be grown in a pot near a sunny window, like the houseplants?

  2. I came here looking growing onions. You got me with the onions videos, can't wait to see the other vids. And you got me again with garlic. I am from México, and the climated from my city is warm. I am going to try it!! Thanks. I already sub to your channel!!!

  3. Garlic is one of the plants that because of our cultivation method we’ve lost either the ability or the interest in growing garlic from seed. I would love to see if you could harvest seeds from your garlic crop!

  4. Well that’s because we mulch the garlic. And it’s roots get established before the hard freeze. you are wrong. I tested your method. Put clove in freezer then planted. It died and rotted. Does Not work.

  5. Hello, I am in Washington DC and it gets cold here. It is now end of July, can I plant garlic in containers now? I have some that have been in the fridge for months and are sprouting. Also, if I plant them and they continue to grow, can I use the leaves now? and can I leave the cloves in the container to let them go through the winter? I am so excited to start after seeing your video!!

  6. wondering if it is too late to plant in zone 7 if i plant this week. We plan on waiting until after the arctic blast but will the conditions be just right? We normally have a cold period but i have been hearing mixed messages between unusually cold and unusually warm winter from my gardener friends. Help please!

  7. I'm in a cold climate, but missed fall planting. My bulbs were separated and I tossed them in the fridge about a week ago and just noticed that they started putting off roots (about 1/4" long). Can I still put them in the freezer and plant indoors?

  8. So I’m in zone 7a Long Island NY. if I wanted to try the late method, I should break up my bulb and place the cloves in the freezer and not the fridge? How many month does this method require as opposed to the 9 months of traditional planting? If I planted out in March would they still be ready in July?
