  1. I quote you all the time. That grocery store tomato’s are like tasting disappointment. It’s true, I prepared for a winter garden and suddenly had a stroke.my time in hospital and rehab put me too late to plant. Now I’m looking forward to the next season and trying to be patient!i feel you!

  2. You're so right in that we have to appreciate each season for what it brings, even these icky January days. I live in south-central Louisiana, (zone 9a) and I'm getting so antsy for the spring to get here. I'm adding some major additions to the garden this year. I can't wait to break into the earth and get my hands dirty. But it'll be here before I know it…as will the back aches, hot hours of plant tending in the 100+ degree Louisiana heat, and the 12-hour days full of canning LOL It's a good reminder to sit and enjoy the remainder of the season of rest that we're in. We're all gonna be really tired really soon….BUT we'll have fresh tomatoes, so there's that! 😉 God bless!

  3. I’m still in a small apartment with a tiny patio and not much sun light, but I have an idea and it ain’t stopping me. I have germinated so many tomato’s and peppers. I have a plan I just need hubby to make me certain things lol I figured if I started from seed it will give me that “I can do it” and it has! Also u have made me realize my live for knitted sweaters lol I now have 2 and many more to come

  4. I just love watching your garden tours. It is so relaxing to watch everything that you and your family do on your farm and it has been inspiring. My garden last year wasn’t the best but it still made me happy and gave me something productive to do in my free time. It would be really cool if y’all could make a calendar of things around your garden. When your garden is in full swing it is so beautiful. I think this year I need to focus on growing things that I like that do better in high heat. It gets super hot and muggy in LA and I think that’s why my garden last year didn’t do so well. Looking forward to this years garden tours!!!

  5. Oh Jess. This is a sermon. Wow. I'm going to put this link in my bio on Instagram because of how hard it hits my heart as a Christian let alone the gardening aspect. Thank you for posting this. You are a blessing.

  6. Thank you for your videos!!! I truly love watching them. And I TOTALLY get the yearning!!! I keep walking through my garden area, just dreaming…

  7. Dear Jess,

I can't wait until it's summer, and rainy, and hot, and humid, waking up at 6am, super excited. makin my coffee with you and watching the latest vlog of the garden, and going out and tending to my own homestead. Jess, you uploaded a testimonial a few months ago about "infinitely more"….that video made me cry! It gave me so much hope girl.
    thank you!

  8. I have my seeds. I’ve mapped out my garden. I’ve begun cleaning my kitchen and making space for my garden produce. Organizing my jars. And waiting. February in northern WI, zone 4. I start my winter sowing in mid March and start my peppers and tomatoes indoors in April. I have all my supplies. While I wait I’m crocheting birthday gifts for family and we just got a puppy. Makes the time pass faster. Frost free date is June 10!

  9. So many feels! <3 <3 <3 Still saving up for a hobby farm and feeling so glum sometimes watching the pennies add up, but I’m doing everything I can in like 3 family members’ yards right now!!!

  10. I have a "sure fire" method of finding the last frost date in my area. That is, when the Pecan trees begin to leaf out, you can put money on no further frost until fall. My neighbor has half a dozen in his yard so I don't have to search them out. The Pecan tree will not leaf out with the possibility of frost. Nature is so awesome! You may want to ask your extension service and see if there might be a tree that has similar behavior.
