Just like 'maters, peppers need a long growing season to maximize the growth of their delicious fruit. In the Northern Hemisphere, we must start the seeds indoors early, as direct sowing outside leaves us with too short of a growing session.
Does anyone know if there's any truth to the tale that he hotter the pepper is, the longer it can take to germinate? For some reason I don't believe this, but it is the 3rd time I have heard it this month!
Great video Jeff! We just planted our peppers last weekend, too. Spring is coming, my friend!
Last year I had bell pepper plants. One plant was supposed to produce red bell peppers. I purchased plants at Fred Meyer. They did okay once the weather warmed up. But, we had our first frost the last weekend in September and the plants could not take it. I was able to get a total of three peppers off of two plants; but, none of them turned red. They were still good to eat and combined with my homegrown cucumbers, tomatoes, and bunching onions, they worked up into a tasty sandwich. I'm going to miss that if I can't figure out where I can put a grow station indoors.
I'm trying some habaneros. So we'll see how they do
If they are cousins in theory could you cleft graft a jalapeno stem to a mature tomato plants stem? I think it'd be a great experiment
I really enjoy your format. Great job
I watched your video on growing onions from an onion top. I'm on day 3 right now and I'm starting to see new roots and some green on the top. Also, I planted pepper seeds along with other veggies 2 days ago. Thanks for the videos they're great!

How long before the seeds start to sprout? (Approximately).
I was wondering. When you make your potting mix how long does it last? I wanted to make my own but I am sure it is going to make a lot more than I need. Will it keep until next year? I was thinking about putting it in a tote in my garage/shed if it would keep for a long time
I have started growing my sweet peppers from seeds last Friday. And 4 days later they have started to germinate. I've watched all 3 parts of your video, I am quite worried that by the time they grow up to 3-node sizes I've no place to transplant them.. Is it possible to pot them a couple in one pot as I can only plant indoors.. Or do they have to be by themselves in one pot? I know I am getting ahead of myself, but just wanted to know ahead of time so I know what to do WHEN and IF the time comes to transplant them. Thanks! Love your detail-orientated videos!
WHAT IS USED FOR THE POTTING MIX
Jeff when you plant indoors how many weeks is it before you transplant outside? Here it gets warm by mid May so when do you recommend the indoor seeding?
I bought 2 of those hex trays. And I have all Serrano peppers planted. Its like the 3rd day. Is it ok for me to keep the bottom tray part always filled with water for these 20 days until they sprout?
I am in New Jersey. I want to start growing cayenne pepper. I don't have fancy set up. I will start in February and keep them by my radiator
