According to the calendar, we’re now over half way through spring, and so a number of you have been asking for a garden update. But unfortunately, because we’re located in Ontario, Canada, there’s just hasn’t been much going on, yet. You see, this is still pretty early for us, and we won’t even begin planting out for another few days or so. However, despite that, we do still have a number of things to mention: Expanded germination stations, more seedlings, new grow lights, homemade paper pots, lots of wildlife , trees are budding, garden is ready to plant, and the ssparagus from last year is looking great!

  1. I subscribe to many Homesteaders, but you are by far my favorite! From your voice, to your wit, to your journey! Truly a pleasure. Can't wait for the next update! See you soon!

  2. For someone who says "there just hasn't been much going on," that was a very delightful video! Wish we could put together a work party/meet up to complete the fence! Thanks for the update! And good luck with the mouse problem!!

  3. How have you been dealing with your groundhog in the last year? Are you trying to resist him, or have enough to feed him as well as your family? This has been our main issue this year. The groundhog has 6 adorable babies, but this also means that they are all quite hungry. And I would prefer to deal with them in a way that would give us all enough to eat…but it's hard! Lol

  4. Awesome , Glad to see everythings going well. Beautiful Video , So many Birds. A song in the wind for you. Only Good Thoughts for you`ll . God Bless with His very Best . Still putting plans together for My rig.

  5. New sub here, I found your garlic video just in time for my first time growing garlic!! Love your style and please keep up the great work! Thanks again!!

  6. Dandelions are awesome and very important! Don't discount them, love them! They are one of the first plentiful foods for the bees after winter, the leaves are lovely in salads, the roots can make a coffee substitute, and the flowers can be processed into Dandelion wine or jelly. They have vitamin c and even have a few natural remedy qualities such as anti-inflammatory properties. Humans cultivated dandelions as an important staple crop and medicine for centuries, it was only the pristine look of modern lawns that suddenly gave it a bad reputation as a 'weed', when it's anything but.

  7. Smooth voice, audio books in the future? I grew up listening to my stepfather's audiobooks from the cnib, most where monotone. You would do well imho.

  8. What a treat to find not one but TWO updates from you. Missed my favourite You tubers. Hope you have been well and look forward to seeing more from you.

  9. Have you put up fencing? Recently used hog wire panels and was surprised how affordable they were for the size. 4 x 16 feet for 26 dollars US. 5 gauge steel, strong but we were able to bend shapes using a 2×4 and mallet.

  10. Cool just found an Canadian family how share passion with gardening.. Am located in the Gatineau Outaouais. I wish you and family a great 2021 garden season.
