I decided to create a video to highlight some of the incredible benefits and uses that nettles bring to a vegetable garden. I would dare say that nettles are one of the most productive plants that can be grown in a garden. From beneficial insects to soil building, nettles are a plant that deserves far more attention as well as use. I hope that this video will inspire you to make the most of what nettles have to offer for your vegetable garden.

Thanks but what can I do about african snail we seems to have an influx in Trinidad its a pest
It would be nice if you would identify and describe what they look like!
Excellent info, great production. That's a subscription out of me. Cheers mate!
This was very informative, thank you
Can not see clearly in the cell phone.
Except their roots grow incredibly long and wrap around roots of plants and crops which affects crop yields. That is why we weed the garden and kill them all.
Hello Huw. Actually I found your vid starting from where the vege renett to make a home-made cheese come from. So I kinda expected to hear its role as the source of vegetable renett but it was not included in the 7 uses. Maybe there'a much more use of nettle than only 7 haha.
I'm busy with my annual big nettle seed collection while I'm out with the dogs right now. I put them in smoothies, use them as garnish, even tried some nettle seed bread (wasn't great but ..). They seem to freeze well. I love sitting out making nettle string to use for decorating jars etc and whatever is left goes into making plant food. There's always a good patch of nettles I leave alone, I rest any long stems I harvest there for a day to give the residents a chance to leave.
Brilliant post thank you
Nettles are absolutely underrated as a food, my favorite green to forage and better than almost any storebought leafy green. Why wouldn't you want them in your garden?
are nettle like weeds?
These look like Wood Nettles…. do you know if they are? Excellent video by the way… very informative.
If you are "stung" by nettles, the BEST way to get rid of the itchy painful sting is to use the liquid from the stem and rub it on affected area. I frequently harvest nettle with my bare hands, and they can hurt, so when Im all done I grab some stems. Squeeze and rub stems on itchy spots and wait a minute or two. And its gone!
Excellent informative video. I have introduced nettle to the very rear of the back garden under the the Oak tree adjacent to the fence ….
Good deterrent against any potential burglars also ….
Ohh growing nattle is so unique for me here I only see nattles in forests but now I am interested lol
Ur handsome gardener
I have nettle seeds and am hoping they grow in my area of Arizona zone 9b. I love nettle tea and want to be able to use nettles for all of the reasons you've discussed in your video. Thank you for the information!
Does the heat, get the leaves to let go of the stingers ?
Great video, I've heard that nettles can also cause (severe) allergic reaction, eh?
Awesome information my friend!
Don’t you get stung by those Nettles? When I was growing up in Europe I got stung all the time. Gosh! You brought back memories to me. Great job!
revelatory
You are spot on even in Padstow Sydney Australia even if you don’t have fruit fly. Matt horticulturalist nursery
wow you're blown my mind with this video, man. I didn't know the term "permaculture" but it is how I try to manage my garden. This is great stuff.
I also use nettles and other wild herbs for my green juices 🙂
Cute as well.
are nettles becoming more or less common?
can you make ropes using nettle just like hemp?
