There is white stuff on all the outside of my 10 gallon grow bags, where I'm growing potatoes. What is going on??
Honestly not a big fan of plastic fabric, but if it's what you've got, it's better than nothing. The microplastics concern me and I try to have plastic-free soil/growing media in my yard as much as possible.
You might have just got a rototiller and tilled it up anyway.
Try the 'kiddie pool' setup.
Drip irrigation wastes water due to too much evaporation. It also promotes weeds.
You could use a magnum size GLASS wine bottle, fill with water, invert and shove it into each grow bag (one per bag needed).
You can see when to refill the bottle, and watering is automatic.
Drilling a hole in the cap of the bottle can regulate the watering.
I don't use a cap as it keeps my soil dang near exactly right.
What is the purpose of the mulch? Is it just for looks?
When driving, I look the curbs for discarded plastic swimming pools for raised beds. Found a bunch of discarded pots on curb & just reused.
So the blue bag has plants sticking out from the sides… did you puncture it and allow the plants to grow on the sides?

I carry a leatherman charge and my swiss army knife hunter and a Soviet-era tiny shovel.

I’m trying grow-bags for the first time this year. Nothing fancy, just a few potatoes on my deck. I love Eric’s reassurances that it doesn’t have to look perfect! This is my favorite video from my favorite YouTube gardener.

2. How do we make sure the growing mix is fully saturated without any dry pockets?
