  1. Every allotment, garden and balcony should have sweet peas!
    Really informative video Adam!
I spray mine regularly to help prevent powdery mildew and it seems to be working so far. Do you ever experience this, and how do you prevent it?

  2. Hi Adam, I enjoyed your guide to growing sweet peas. I agree with soaking the seed in a jar of water, it does seem to aid germination. As a garden boy, many years ago, I well remember digging out the sweet pea pits and preparing the soil with plenty of manure. I was taught that the main shoot of the sweet pea was liable to go "blind" after reaching about 3 feet. This was one reason to pinch out the growing point after it had developed three pairs of leaves.

  4. We love sweet peas mate, my wife bought a few pots of the variety 'Spencer' two years ago and I planted them on the plot – they did pretty well and I saves quite a lot of seed. Those have done really well too (despite the challenging weather conditions). One thing I noticed; the stems of the saved seed flowers are (mostly) a lot longer than the spencer variety and fortunately for us still have heavenly perfume!
    nice video Adam.
    Cheers

  6. I need help please! I bought my mom some seeds for King Tut sweet peas and from what I gather they can be quite difficult to grow. We are in San Diego so that gives you an idea of our climate can anybody out there give me at least some tips or pointers? My mother has an awfully good green thumb but even she is kind of intimidated with what we've heard about the difficulty of these

  7. Going to give your method of chitting and sowing of the seeds a go. Looks a lot more dramatic than the results I usually get. I also appriciate seeing the entire lifespan from seed to flower.

  8. Hi, this video is great and so easy to follow, just wondering how much water do you put in the jar and where do you put the jar to sit- is a sunny window sill ok? Thanks

  9. Hi just wondering if I wanted the sweet pea flowers to decorate the garden rather than cut flowers for inside, could I just take off the seed pods as they develop or will that still stop the flowers from growing?

  10. Love your video Adam – you make gardening look so easy and fun. Would you advise growning the sweet peas in hanging basket – thinking they'll grow downwards ?

  11. Hi Adam, I sowed my sweet peas mid Feb & they look ready to be planted out already. Is it too early? Are they frost tolerant? Roughly when did you plant yours out? Many thanks

  12. Thank you that was very informative. I tried early this year but with no success, they didn't shoot. I tried one in the greenhouse and 1 packet straight outside into the soil after soaking but I now realise I didn't soak them for long enough, only 2 days. I have bought another packet but is it too late in the season to try again?
