UPDATE – SGLeds reached out with a 20% off coupon code GROWBULBS 👍👍 and a warning as follows : “Our engineers suggest customers don’t use a lampshade or an enclosed fixture with the bulb for better heat dissipation and longer service time of the bulb.”
SUMMARY – This is a good grow light for a small grow area, and a small budget. It puts out a nice white light of around 4200K, perfect for leafy greens and herbs. Below are Amazon links to items mentioned in this video. Happy Growing!

  1. Hi, I agree with your summation that the bulb isn't fully spectrum. 4800K lights are considered daylight (full spectrum) for film photography using daylight film–anything lower isn't and turns the colors on film to either blue or yellow depending on other environmental factors. Love your channel 8-).

  2. Great review! But I did want to add something. I would not recommend that light fixture to plug the bulb into. First it won’t help much in reflecting the light because the light shines straight down anyway. Second and more importantly it holds the heat in. As you mentioned the upper part of the light is a heat sink. In that fixture it won’t “breath” properly and will only make the light hotter…lessening it’s life span.

  3. Lmao “it’s not Blurple!” Thanks for the great growing recommendations as always! I’ll be trying one of these for my first attempt at a closet grow

  4. Forget about the equivalent wattage, that specification is meaningless. PAR is what matters. This lamp would be suitable for a houseplant or two or maybe lettuce but not for fruiting vegetables like tomatoes, cukes, or peppers. I use three 48" LED shop lights, 40 watt, 4500 lumen, 5000k each above two standard 10" x 20" trays, on 16 hours & off 8 hours, to start vegetable seedlings, works great. The cost was $75.00 for 120 watts while this lamp is $40,00 for 36 watts. Okay for limited space I guess. Cannabis is marijuana.
