  1. Great vid! I use the back to Eden garden style and have had a lot of success with it. However I did run into some similar issues with my annual plants. I started brewing my compost teas for a shorter period and pulled all the mulch off this year. Every thing is back to Eden now:] Just piling up my mulch helped it break down and is now pretty much soil. One Love

  2. I love your channel and follow your process closely here in the PNW, which is more similar to your NJ environment than my previous SF Bay Area location. Thank you for helping me get back to gardening. I have a photograph of me wearing the Food Forest shirt I purchased (love it), standing in front of my beginning efforts.

  3. Is there more danger of introducing pests when using rotted hay or leaves, and if so how could that be negated?

Thanks for the info, great video with a lot of concise delivery of useful info.

  4. How do you address yellow jackets? I had a nest of yellow jackets in my mulch and was stung multiple times. I am now leery of using mulch. I realize the benefits of using it for the plant life, but how do I balance the benefits with the fear that I am now experiencing due to the risk of being stung?

  5. I'm so glad you did this video. I've been watching every video I could find about mycorrhizal fungi. I'm new to gardening and everything I know has been learned from YouTube videos rather than personal experience but I had decided that fungi seems better for perennials and bacteria seems better for annuals. You're the only other person I've heard who addresses this idea. Love your videos! Energetic personality! Top notch information! And Tuck! By far the best YouTube gardener!

  6. James, watching your videos feels like attending a college level class. You include so much technical information and so much reasoning, and gardening philosophy. L.O.V.E.
