VIDEO: 21 Days Eating ONLY What We Can Grow | The Movie

We spent 21 days eating only what we could grow on our self-sufficient property and this is the story about how it went.

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. Wanted to happily point out that as of today you have 22k thumbs up! Great Job! Love the content! Just curious, are you able to have goats? They are really good at eating so you don't need to mow as much and they produce milk. Could make your own goat cheese with fruit added! Yum!

  2. Yo bro….coffee is bad and when you stopped carbs, your body went into ketosis, thats what happened to your wife 1st nd then to you but when you had lots of protein the extra protien got converted to glocose which is equivalent to having carbs

  3. This challenge would be easier for you if you also incorporate mushroom growing into your farm. It compensates for some of the nutrients you weren't getting from meats. You could also add Stevia as a great sugar replacement. Sugar withdrawal is awful, but a good thing to mostly cut from your diet. The lack of dairy would be incredibly hard.

  4. 22k thumbs up, before I added mine. LOL! I love the scene at the end with the steak and red wine. That must've been a good feeling.

  5. The sugar you got from the fruits were mixed in with fibers. your body had to work to digest them and it released into your body slowly. Much better for you than freely available sugar from dissolved or granular sugar that comes in a bag

  6. Love from India! Also, dunno if you've considered this option or not, but maybe for increasing the protein intake you can try crops like pulses or legumes that would provide some plant-based protein in your diet. My family is vegan so that is where we get our daily intake of proteins. And plants like soya and chickpeas and lentils are pretty hardy and easy to grow! Anyway, love your channel and your work!
