VIDEO: Hugh Lovel Consultation Part 9

Hugh Lovel is the author of “A Biodynamic Farm for Growing Wholesome Food” and “Quantum Agriculture: Biodynamics and Beyond”. His articles appear in Acres USA and related organic farming periodicals such as Acres Australia and biodynamic journals around the world. Hugh is a farmer and an international consultant to dairy farms, graziers, broad-acre grain growers, and fruit and vegetable producers. As a multidisciplinary scientist, he has introduced comprehensive soil testing using both the Albrecht approach and a total acid digest test that more clearly reveals what is actually present in soils. Above all Hugh has been a leading pioneer of the new science of quantum agriculture. Quantum agriculture is a four-fold farming system first developed by Hugh Lovel in 1986 as a research project for Union Agricultural Institute in Blairsville, Georgia. This system is being used by thousands of farmers around the globe.
Learn how agriculture works in harmony with nature and how to improve yields, reduce cultivation, eliminate weeds, pests, and diseases and improve crop responses to weather while harvesting both carbon dioxide and nitrogen from the atmosphere and building these into the humus in our soils. In part 9, John Henry Nelson, Hugh Lovel, and Pat Battle walk around the Mills River Educational Farm, observing plants in a greenhouse before examining some rock dust and gravel we had on hand. Hugh points out the importance of obtaining the most finely powdered rock dust possible for the maximum surface area that provides more benefits to plants.

  1. I looked up 500 and 501 biodynamic preps. Sounds more like a superstition based on practice. I would rather scientifically examine inputs. I would not use granite rock dust at all. Basalt rock dust is paramagnetic and makes plants mature sooner. Raise more crops per acre. And a short season can be harvested before the first frost. Does anyone have a reference on raising earthworms in tanks? Living Web says that they have earthworm tanks.

  2. You bring up a great point about the inconsistency of testing, All different testing from soil to tissue to seed and nutrient density GMO versus non-GMO. Do you have any top-notch labs that you recommend or work with on a regular basis? Always looking for more opinions and always learning. Thanks for more great content #GTFU
