  1. I wanted to reach out to you and thank you for inspiring me to plant a second summer garden. I had to evacuate because of the horrible California wildfires and more than losing my possessions I was upset over my garden – which thanks in no small part to your blog has been the best veggie garden I have grown in years and the seeds I planted for a second batch of cukes and beans were just sprouting when we evacuated. Seeds were one of the things I brought with me, forgot my computer but remembered my seeds. We just had evacuation orders lifted and my garden and seedlings are all still alive!!!!!!!! Ashy and wilted but alive. I planted my tomatoes super late this year and hadn’t got a single ripe one before leaving and returned to ripening maters, and an 18 inch long trompetta di Napoli! So this isn’t an ask or a comment as much as sharing my joy with someone who will fully understand. (I also live just a few miles from Renee’s test garden and was happy to hear that she is ok too. I was so worried.) I accept your blessings and bless you right back sweet YouTube friend!

  2. You had Toby plant the stonehead cabbage next to the old tomato stem. Do the tomato roots not get in the way of the new plant setting down roots? Some of my tomatoes have extensive root systems when I pull them out. I never thought to leave them there.

  3. I started … from seed… brussel sprouts and cauliflower…. LAST FALL…lol. okay… and now… they are all thick and beautiful and 2 feet tall. So i am unsure if they are going to produce . I read that when it cools a bit here…(SoCal) to give them high nitrogen fertilizer… and top the sprouts… to force them to produce. I kind of approach gardening like a mad scientist. In this case… growing Frankensprouts. Fingers crossed on the cauliflower. No clue… except clothes pins to pinch close over the blooms to keep them white. And Toby is my Super Hero. I adore him… such a great kiddo. And Bear is too <3

  4. Hi Jess! It's nice seeing your seeds coming up so good for you. I don't have anywhere to set up seed trays, but wish I did. I have a very small greenhouse that I can put plants in and start seeds in, in the spring, but no way to set up grow lights, so it's not very effective. Toby's face when he bit into that pepper, oh my! Obviously he didn't like it, but wouldn't spit it out on camera, too cute. It was fun watching him help you plant the beds. Good job Toby! I'm opposite of you, I like peppers raw, but not cooked. Thank you for sharing!

  5. I appreciate your tangent. Sometimes you do get discouraged and you need someone to remind you that the little things are important too. Thank you for your encouragement. I love watching your videos.

  6. Love your video and content. Larger scale than what I’m doing however still gain loads of knowledge from your channel. Grew sunflowers which I loved and the neighborhood loved. Where did you purchase your cute shirt in this video and the last video?
