Looks like suger beet. Dont go in the corn lol. Nice cooking apples Sweet chestnuts dont grow here but we do have little stands selling farm goods.

Hi Adam, Enjoyed your countryside ramble. The field of Mangelwurzels brought back memories of seeing Adge Cutler and The Wurzels on stage in the early 1970's. Sadly Adge was killed in a car crash in 1974. As you say, grown as a fodder crop although I believe both root and leaves can be eaten when cooked young.
Nice ramble through the brimming fields mate – some cracking wilding apples there (get yourself a mill and press and we could start that micro-brewery Lol!)
