VIDEO: Growing Broccoli Sprouts – Do they need to be kept in the dark for the first 4 days? An Experiment

Three methods were used here to grow broccoli sprouts: 1. in the dark for the first 4 days and greening up in the light on the 5th day, 2. Ambient light for all the days, 3. Under an LED grow light for all the days. Can you guess what happened….probably….but it was fun to see, and taste. Hope you enjoy!
If you want the stainless steel lids I used for sprouting, here is the Amazon link:

  1. I very much appreciate your scientific method. You cleared up my question after watching about 20 YouTube Sites. Your verbal explanations are extremely clear and concise. No Nonsense–No Bull. Very informative. Thanks

  2. 0:58 Who was that monster who decided to cover up their jars with aluminium foil just to keep their sprouts in the dark? What a waste of aluminium foil! Separating/processing aluminium from the ore in which it was harvested is a very energy intensive process – that's why certain regions used to incentivize the return of aluminium cans by offering people a small bit of compensation [like 5 or 10 cents?] since it was a lot cheaper to recycle aluminium than to mine the ore and process it from the get-go. People drive me nuts!

  3. I really like your scientific approach and how you don't jump into conclusions. Now, to be strictly scientific, the ones kept in the dark should also have been rinsed in the dark. I don't know about plants, but with mushrooms exposing the mycelium to even brief periods of light can affect fruiting.

  4. Fantastic. Thanks for the science vs rumour lol.
You were tactful about it but ha, I will make the point. Why? Because I teach kids to discern between opinion and facts…and adults need to remember not to just follow or believe everything they hear but rather, reserve judgement and test things out, especially when they hear something….nasty….about….someone….ifn ya know what I mean. The times we live in call for a lot more testing or reserving judgement, than just following…in my not so humble opinion. It would save a LOT of aggro. Good lesson done on sprouts. Now lets apply it to what we hear about people eh?

I use empty coffee jars and foil poked with pin holes bc…ha I'm too cheapbroke to buy stuff any more although I once had a high paying tech leadership role. But someone decided to blacklist me with malicious gossip, thinking if I was broke, isolated from disloyal "friends" and nobody would pick up the phone like they used to…I would run into his arms for sanctuary.

Instead, I figure out what was going on, and told him that's talibroinquisitorwomanabuser tactics and I DON"T SLEEP WITH TRAITOR TRASH.

I also looked at the hundreds of people I knew professionally and personally that I was endlessly generous, supportive, helpful, responsive, protective and kind to and decided they were not worthy of my friendship because, I never shun anyone on gossip. EVER. Why? Because I have not put the forget in lest we forget and I know where that expression really comes from. It's centuries old and has nothing to do with remembering names of people who died fighting off predators…but HOW those predators get the best of fools in the first place.

    Have a nice day.

  5. Did this with black sesame seeds.
I didn't want to waste the black water because it's full of nutrients, so I drank it. It tasted fine or I could have mixed it with juice. It may be placebo effect but I felt good after drinking it.

  6. Thank you so muchfor sharing your experiment. Now I know which method of growing to use! Love all your educational videos. They all help me a ton as I’m sure it dies the same fir all your followers. God bless. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
