This video covers the basics of starting seeds in rockwool. It difficult to underwater or overwater when you use rockwool, the fibers retain water very well AND hold oxygen in the pockets between the fibers. So start some seeds now!

Great video!! Perfect presentation. We've also had the best luck with rock wool. The only difference is that we soak the rock wool directly in hydroponic nutrient growing solution and the seeds grow like crazy. Keep up the wonderful videos!
Always informative!
Nice…let us know your results for clay pebbles…..not as wasteful if works
Always great info! Look forward to seeing how seed starting in clay pebbles works out for you!
Looking forward to learning about how to use clay pebbles for seeds!
Just the information I was looking for. Thank You! Can't wait for the clay pebble experiment to be finished. You can reuse the pebbles. Can the rockwool be reused because of all the roots of the plant in it after harvest?
Great stuff Tikki! Have you ever tried using smaller pieces of rockwool? We can break up one of those cubes into about 20 pieces and the seeds will do just fine! I've got a video of this on my channel. Much more sustainable and cost efficient using smaller pieces!!
Great video! Thanks for releasing such informative and interesting content. You’ve helped me tremendously in this new gardening venture, as I’m sure you have many others as well. I’m excited to see the results of the seed in pebbles experiment. Have you ever used rapid rooters or pellet seed starters? If so, how do they compare to the rockwool?
I will follow the lead on this video and start some lettuce today. I am also starting some Chinese greens using the same Kratky method and have six 1/2 gallon mason jars. The 1/2 gallon jars have the same sized opening as the one quart mason jars which allows the same 3" net cups work. Thanks for the effort and another great video.
I might grow some winter lettuce having seen this, I've a few weeks before chilli growing season starts again. Great video!
AWESOME!!
you can use coco coir rather than rockwool. its better
Hello thanks for the video. How long does lettuce take from a seed to harvest? What light do you recommend for a small 4 to 8 jar setup? Thanks!
Where is a good place to buy seeds for hydroponics?
Looking good!
for how long you have to put the light on ?
Thank you so much for this instruction. It is my vision that all kitchens be equipped with home growing systems like this so we can grow our own food.
This is amazing thank you for such a straightforward and informative tutorial!!!!
She really green screened herself onto her own backyard.
can we place the rockwools into netpot directly with the seedlings or do we need to remove from rock wool?
Is there any reason not to start the seeds in rockwool in the netcups? That way when they are ready for the hydroponics container, just transfer them there?
watched lots of vids tikki, great job, um have you ever considered making extra holes in that large rockwool cube, and put a seed in each one instead of dropping 2 or 3 in 1 hole….. or I honestly take those cubes and cut them into smaller cubes, you dont need that much rockwool at all' just pack the net cup with more pebbles.
and yea you already know the other method of growing without rockwool at all, keep up the great work tikki!
I loved your video, great tips for me as a beginner.
