  1. It's a sad fact, should you ever go back to an old cemetery you can often see the many children who never made it past 5. The many women who went west and married farmers, sometimes sight unseen, and found their lives cut short by disease, childbirth and starvation. It is a sober thought that my grandparents were farmers in europe, they came here in 1910 and they arrived from the old country and had $5 between em. While I know all that, and have for years, your words brought a tear to my eyes.
I was a homesteader when I was younger, my wife then didn't want to stay so we left together back to the big city and I went to being a carpenter building custom mansions. Now I just tend my little garden, though I don't live in the city anymore. Bless you, and keep up your strength, life is hard, death is harder.

  2. This was a very educational video. And you were absolutely right, we don’t know how to endure life anymore. We haven’t had enough hardships LOL to develop our emotional strength. I needed to hear this. Thanks.

  3. I have always been interested in my ancestors. I am researching and making copies for my sons and grandchildren. They will each get a binder with all of their ancestors and any documents and pictures I find or have. Love you videos P.

  4. Echo others
    VERY EXCELLENT Wise words
Thankfully We haven't had to decide or deal… Excellent information to Think upon in any lifestyle…
    Love y'all soooooo much
    And appreciate you Totally
Relate many times over and I am Not a homesteader… Just a "normal" individual

  5. Its so funny how those two birds in the background are trying to shout over each other. They have such personalities. I think you are so right. People are very soft and numb to their relationship with food and with the earth. It was bred into us to be fair though. They made it easier and more convenient over the past few decades to the point that we dont even have to get up off the couch to get fed now.

  6. I am so sorry about your tom. It is very sad!
One of our ancestors was fighting alongside yours at King's Mtn. So thankful that he wanted freedom for himself and his children. I think of my ancestors often and what they endured and what they sacrificed for freedom. They were far braver than I am, but I try to learn and push forward each day! I was listening to John MacArthur today and the sermon focused on the fact that suffering always comes before glory. We are in the struggle, the suffering, right now and if we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then we will see the glory soon. We have to remain faithful to Him! We are about to experience a lot of suffering, but we have to keep our eye on Christ. God Bless!

  7. Yes! This is why we wanted to have a homestead, to be reliant on God not the stores and learn to trust Him.
We need to know our history….yes, so important! If we don't know our history we are bound to repeat it and if we don't learn from it we will never grow.

  8. I think this is extremely important.. not only to keep is connected to our loved ones, but to the land as well… to remind ourselves that we as a people, are resilient and adaptable; we're survivors and so much more capable than we believe

  9. My mother’s family was from Stevens County in Northeast Georgia at the foothills of the mountains. My brother and I spent our summers on aunt and uncle Yearwood‘s farm in Mount Airy Georgia. And everything you say is true. But life and loss go hand-in-hand. Things that bring us joy also bring us sorrow, that is the cycle of life. That’s why it’s so important to enjoy each day with as little fear as possible. Thank you for sharing this, because it’s important to talk about pain and loss. And yes we live in much better times in many ways, and in other ways we still have things that we have to be challenged by and learn from. I hope you have a good spring and summer.
