VIDEO: Inspirational Small-Scale Permaculture Homestead | Low Cost Self-Sufficiency on Less Than an Acre

In my opinion, Byther Farm is one of the best examples of how you can produce a huge amount of food whilst being on a tight budget. This is self-sufficiency in the truest form. Find out how Liz went from being bedbound due to illness to now being self-sufficient as well as feeding 20 other local families in just a few short years. This is what permaculture is about, this is proof that dreams can be realised no matter how little resources you may have available. Liz started with creating a raised bed vegetable garden and now has a full small-scale homestead featuring a maturing food forest, poultry, undercover growing and much more.

  1. I have a bare paddock I have next door to me to use…I have no idea if it'll work but am keen as to give it a whirl. I have just ordered Liz's book. Can't wait to get started on this journey.

  2. 10:15 When the camera pulls back from her garden to the "commercial" fields, it's like looking at the blast radius of a bomb… Anyone with an ounce of sense can see the transition from heathy and right to sick and wrong. If this isn't a wake-up call to change our food production, I don't know what else we can do.

  3. I'm trying to grow my own foods. I just went out at 11:00pm to get afresh cucumber and tomato for my salad. I'm trying to grow completely organic and its been hard work keeping bugs away. But its also satisfying knowing where my food came from and that I have now even created the soil myself this year. I also feel so much better getting away from processed foods and tv dinners I was living on with some home cooked meals. But my diet was for shit. So much I had health issues that they could not figure out. I know now saving myself it was my diet. We have to change because the old pesticide ways are killing us and our planet.

  4. I just love this story. She smiles so much, obviously very proud of her work. very inspirational. Improving the land and nature itself, then heals us. Thank you for sharing.

  5. I loved watching this! I watch Liz’s vids and have her book and find her so inspirational. I have the same condition and her story is so helpful, so similar and so honest! I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to create our own garden and plans for a self sufficient life and looking and listening to his liz manages it had given me hope! She’s wonderful.

  6. Fascinating video which I thoroughly enjoyed. I've ordered the book through Amazon (easier for me as I live in the far north west of Turkey). I'm starting my own – much smaller – adventure next season having just bought a property with 1000m² garden. Wish me luck!!!

  7. I completely understand your mindset re ' lonely '
Being outside tending my garden and watching things grow, brings me peace of mind and joy.
I love your can do attitude..
    A very inspiring video..
Thanks for sharing . Good luck…
