  1. Partara, we live on the lower slopes of a mountain. All our gates seem to be lower at the hinge than the latch side. We use posts, held to the gate bottom with a very short chain at the lower side and a few links longer at the other, so it is parallel with the ground, not the gate.
It keeps lambs in and foxes and stray dogs out.

  2. God planned the coupling of the animals. It works when it is supposed to work. You are right not to stress them or yourself over it.
I have to admit I don’t think I’ve ever touched a chicken. I’d love to try raising layers but I want to travel and don’t know anyone to take care of them if I’m gone. I only touched a cow for the first time about 3 months ago. We are too isolated from our food. Gardening for the first time this year. Baby-steps.

  3. Did you put the female in the males cage? If not the female will be more aggressive to the male.
But if you put the female in the males cage the female will be submissive
I am sure you are really smart.
To everyone else, if the female stays in with the Male and she has her babies she will beat up the male also the male might kill the babies.
Knowledge is power and will prevent heartbreak

  4. Thanks for brightening my day and making me laugh. My hubby sounds like your James. He keeps this artist/animal lover/dreamer/farm girl grounded just enough! He loves brownies too! Have a great week!

  5. You can look at you two when together that there is an awesome love story. Love watching your videos and even though I can't do all the canning and freezing I did for years due to health reasons, still love watching. It brings back such happy memories for me from spending time on my grandparents farms, working the garden and gathering eggs and slopping hogs. God Bless you and your family.

  6. We have had Chevy's, Ford"s, and now a dodge RAM. Most comfortable of any truck we have ever had. My Husband is 6 ft. 3 and ther is plenty of head room and leg room. Never thought we would own a Dodge but we love it!!

  7. if he wants a truck, he has to save up those times you would cook him brownies instead. lol. i'm not to the point of killing the chickens we have yet….just using them for the eggs right now. i'll just have to work up to that. my parents could most likely do that, if push comes to shove i'll do it, but until then. nope not happening.

  8. U may have too cut back on the gals diets. Of course rabbits r on a cycle of sorts also there r about 3 days out of 20 or 21 days they won't breed. Otherwise the does will play hard to get, they will run around and test the buck. She is working up to ovulation. They are often contact ovulators. If u have not bred in a year or more does will put on internal fat and may not breed. Put them on a diet. Less feed….

  9. I’ve done a lot of heavy work. But not with fibromyalgia And so forth I’m not as able. I still do a lot but not like I did in my early years. I never had a desk job.
    Love your animals.

  10. I sure wish we had someone like you in our family. My grandmother said those that lived on farms during the great depression we're the lucky ones. Starvation was seen in the cities and droves of men rode in and on top of box cars across the country hunting for work. I'm fearful those days are coming back and worse when the reset doesn't work, not to mention natural and man made calamities.

  11. At least it was a little boy that didn't know about the rooster! My coworker asked me if roosters laid eggs. I love the opportunity to teach people but its very sad people are so detached with how nature works.
