Hey everyone. I made a brief mention in this video about wind turbines. My knowledge on the topic was based on a single message and photo I'd received from a friend that I'd received in passing and literally just thought, "Whoa, thats crazy." I had no additional information and was ignorant in even mentioning it, as i have NO clue about any of the facts or political opinions circulating around this topic. I frankly have not turned on the news or spent much time on social media over the last few days, as I have been up to my ears dealing with the single-most stressful week I've had since beginning homesteading.
I wish I hadn't said anything at all, because I don't have the knowledge to speak on the subject, but I did say something and have received no less than 100 messages since then from people making varying degrees of correction and accusations.
Please, take my comment as the ignorant offhand comment that it was and enjoy the rest of this 30 minute vlog. No comments made in this vlog are a representation of my political beliefs, my beliefs on legacy, my concern for people, my favorite news media sources or anything else. What I meant to communicate was this: "This is a big deal, a lot of people are struggling and it isn't to be taking lightly." and THAT, i stand by.
Grace, please. (Any argumentative comments will be deleted. I view this comments section as an invitation to sit at my kitchen table. If someone verbally attacked me or any of my other guests at my kitchen table, I would kindly escort them to the door. You and I don't have to agree, but I do expect kindness.)

So scary for places that are not prepared for snow, it can be very dangerous. I live in Canada, so snow is something we are prepared for. My favorite thing about snow is how it creates insulation, its a whole different type of quiet
Believe it or not, snow insulates the earth, and if you’re going through an abnormal cold front, the snow will prove to be advantageous in keeping your perennials alive. Plus the snow will provide nutritious and gradual moisture when it starts melting.
It was NOT because of wind turbines freezing! It was the pipes that feed the natural gas and coal slurry into the power plants. My friend with cheap simple solar systems did great!

Southern born, always did the rolled out/cut strip dumplings – so messy I had pretty much stopped making them. Just made your version and Oh. My. Goodness! Delicious, Jessica! Thanks so much – I'll be making "Jess' Dumplings" from now on!

Even though I am now a "northerner" where we have several feet of snow 5 months a year and negative temperatures, I do get what you are saying. We used to live in WA, where there isn't much snow or cold. It's just different there. Like you said, there isn't the infrastructure. Here is another example… here in northern WI, the roads are MADE to be "traversible" which means that if you drive in the ditch, you can get back out! It's just a whole different set-up and way of living. Love your channel! I just started my channel and I know how much work goes into what you do!

I have family in Texas and they were not prepared for the freeze. In Oregon we have snow every winter so we are prepared for it, but when you grow up in a specific climate and aren't expecting weather the extreme opposite of what you are use to? Chaos. Glad my Dad was in the Navy so we had some of every climate.
I have a hearing loss sp I'm not sure I heard you correctly. Did you say you have five sons? If so, my mouth is wiiiide open. You look so young!! I mean, I've got four kids, too, but I've got lots o silver hair & noticed wrinkles for the first time recently.

I lived in NJ and they where also out plowing and salting at the forecast of snow…..moved to NC and the first forecast of snow they call off school….be prepared for that with moving to SC
