The avocado seed really took its time to start growing properly. The first sprout even died at day 71 just when it was going to pop out. DO NOT put those toothpicks in there. They damage the pit and they do not promote growth as fast. Instead, germinate them in a wet paper towel in a plastic bag for about 2 weeks. The root with appear MUCH much faster.

When i throw the pits into the compost dirt, sometimes an avocado trree starts growing, so it may not be necessary to start it in water…i don't know….However, they never get too far because winter kills them….

I did this like 20 times and everytime they have leaves and seem to be good, the leaves start to brown and then eventually the whole plant dies. I think it’s my apartment is just too dark… makes me sad.
