  1. Verry usefull video i laerned in a short time verry much . I plant mi french beans ecactly the same without distanting the soil and in the middle of mi gaslawn (more werd than grasses ) the beans provide there won nitrogen . And mi runner beans ; i Let them climb upon a cornplant what work verry fine bit wait long enough to plant the baens because the corn must already tall enough . Otherwise they duffering . Thank you for that video it give me the feeling that i am not the only gardener with "dtrange" ideas . Succes and thank you enjoy youre gardening season !

  2. Good morning Mark.
Have you considered a flame weeder to kill vegetation under your trellis?
The surrounding areas seem moist enough to avoid overburn and –
dead material would break down into nutrients. -KJ

  3. Hi. I planted peas in my in ground potatoes last year and it worked very well . I also planted potatoes in cardboard boxes, too. That worked so good I’m definitely planting more boxes than last year. Thanks for all the excellent knowledge.

  4. Hi Mark! I love the timing of your videos. As a new gardener, I am able to learn along as the planting season evolves. I was hoping to plant peas this week – alas, a storm dumped a foot of snow so I will have to delay. (Northern Colorado) I do have a couple questions… in your video when you were talking about winter rye cover crop and leaf mold, you stated to mix and work together. How would I do this if I'm doing the no till method? Also, I'm a bit confused on when to use leaf mold, coffee grounds, and worm castings. I've read so much about each of these individually to the point that I don't know when to use what. I have all three of these available to me. I'm grateful that you are always willing to teach the new generation! 🙂

  5. Rabbits love sugar snap peas also. I planted 3 times in the past winter. I didn't harvest any peas, rabbits snacked them all. I bought rabbit spray, it says "guaranteed" , but I found It was useless, costly , stink, and not good for the soil. Now I am working on to put a fence keeping rabbits out of my garden.

  6. Plan to plant my peas this week if it stops raining long enough in zone 8b in WA. State. Last year planted 1st week of March, weather stayed cold and germination took forever, 3 to 4 weeks! So this year decided to wait until 3rd or 4th week of March.
Questions for you… do you or have you ever use inoculant when planting peas or beans? And if so have you seen a difference in germination time, rate and production amount of plants?
Thank you for another informative video!

  7. Are the geese not paying guests at your Air BnB? Whatever cover crop is consumed do the geese not leave a tip? My favorite garden at the Chicago Botanic Garden is the espaliered fruits. However twice a year migrating geese make the place impassable.

  8. so happy to see a new video from you Mark!!… I have watched nearly all your videos and I decided this year to place about 8 inches of 2 year old leaf mould over my garden of clay soil then I mixed in a fair amount of extremely well aged chicken manure to the leaf mould… my question: I am going to plant everything directly into the leaf mould is this going to be an issue????.. will everything root ok and find its way 6 inches down to the clay??… I know you've done tomatoes but can I do peas, leafy greens, and everything else??… I otherwise have hard clay soil with no living root in the ground…. please advise

  9. Hi Mark! I have a cover crop question. I am wanting to plant a cover crop this year for planting garlic in this fall. I have alfalfa seed and sunflower I was planning on using. Are they ok to use or would you recommend something else? My plan of attack is to lay a silage tarp down till the grass dies then broadcast the seed and cover lightly with 2 year old leaf mold. Is alfalfa easy to terminate by crimping or mowing? I'll be keeping all the roots in the ground for sure, thanks to your awesome videos! Thanks for making and sharing your amazing content!
