  1. Reminds of the story of a lady who was severely sick for a decade. Doctors couldn't figure out why she was so ill she couldn't get off the couch. Until a water heater inspector opened her water heater and discovered what was making her ill.

  2. Oh I'm an 80's girl all the way! The bigger the hair the ahppier I am! You need a wood cover on your glasstop stove. It protects it, you won't see all the fingerprits. I bought mine off of Etsy. You can see it in my video today. The top of it has painted on the words country kitchen and a cow and pig. (I think…lol it's farmhouse country lookig! I love it…it also covers a dirty stovetop Great!!! lol

  3. I started a whole house renno right before covid hit! I am sitting here still in middle of huge demo mess because no one will come to house due to active covid cases still high in my state. Plywood subfloors, plumbing not finished in all bathrooms, more trim and electrical needed repaired….ahhh!!!! Doing whatever I can do on my own or I will go insane soon! lol!

  4. I love formica. I switched to granite & since then have busted dozens of glass objects that dropped on it. I would go back to formica but don't want to waste the 1000's of $$$$ I spent.

  5. I am so glad you are doing you, and not following the tends. I could not do open shelves in my kitchen either. I have ocd and it not being picture perfect would totally drive me insane. When you said your stove was hard wired in I kinda freaked out… Like who would have ever thought that was a good idea.

  6. I’m praising God your house did not burn up! I know all about beautiful houses that need lots of work, we almost got ourselves into a similar situation but we insisted on a home inspection, that was quite elaborate. We decided we were not at a place or age to tackle the work needed. Wise decision for us. My sister lives in Jonesborough, not too far from you, such a pretty part of the state!

  7. Our rental property needed a new stove. When they took out the old one we found the same thing a hardwired in stove that was in bad shape. $1000 later we now have a new stove in our rental property that is safe with new wiring up the wall and not on the floor.

  8. love the chicken valance on your window. Take a deep breath girl, yes, one project at a time. That wallpaper you are going to rip off? Cut out the little diamond shapes with chickens on them and make you some fridge magnets.

  9. I hear ya, Sister about working on older houses… we had work done on our house and the contractor kept saying "why did they???… how did they?? … what the heck were they thinking??"… thank goodness nothing was "dangerous" but it was a challenge…..

  10. Be you!!! Formica countertops are our number one choice over all others!!! Looks great! Last forever and cost less! So many people try keeping up with trends, but we choose to do our own thing and we are much happier too. Glad you are following what you love! Your home is you and it looks great! Keep being you!

  11. Amen, sister! It's about time somebody said it! "I don't wanna look like pintrest, I don't wanna look like Instagram… I wanna look like Patera… and you should wanna look like you!"

  12. Your not the only one Patera who had a hard wired stove . I bought a house back in the early 80's and it was new. Well when we went to replace the stove ours was also hard wired in. Scary huh? Must have been a thing back in the day but not a good idea for sure. But anyways, your house and homestead is coming along beautifully. ☺️

  13. Love you Patera! You never disappoint!!! Being co owner of a wildlife education sanctuary and running my chickens/duck homestead (which I made a business) I look to you for help and I always get it. Just adore you and your family!

  14. We bought a repo house that was a total wreck. They drained the pool into the basement, no drain or sump pump, dog urine on old carpets, cupboards trashed, holes in drywall, trash everywhere, and filthy. So we remodeled everything. When choosing countertops I had choices, correl, granite, I chose laminate, (Formica) purposely. I know that other choices take a lot of care and as a canner I had visions of beet and tomato stains on thousands of dollars of countertop! BUT, with the savings I had my cupboards refaced with 400 year old barn wood and they're gorgeous! The carpenter was a magician! They're not grey, he planed the wood, and varnished the cupboards, and the knots and grains, and even the little worm holes are so beautiful. The barn was 200 years old and built with old growth oak. He had to build some cabinets from scratch even. We are blessed!
