Hello! I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. We have harsh winters that can get to -52°C. We just got over our scorching temperatures and it's about 26°C right now.
I just planted a crab apple tree and a 3 in 1 apple tree in my backyard. I want to keep them short and manageable. Is it OK to prune them now or should I wait and do it in the spring?

Hiya, thank you, very informative. I thought painting stumps inhibited growth and killed the tree, how come you are painting the tree and it still lives?

Can you clone the parts you cut off
When did you plant these? They were still dormant and the trees in the background were leafless, but the video is dated May 9th, so I'm assuming it was filmed much earlier?

We planted 3 (ok, 4. one was a 2 apple sapling twist) fruit trees this spring, this would have been good to know! I was worried one of the apple saplings didn't make it bc they didn't have much roots. It did finally leaf out earlier this month, I think giving it willow water helped regrow the roots.
Is it too late to do the pruning and whitewashing?
Does anyone know if you can root the cutting from when you prune?
