Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂 #garden #gardening #homesteading
G'day Everyone, I wanted to get this video out earlier but unfortunately, my video camera broke (5k down the drain unless I can fix it) so I had to film on my phone in 10-minute segments as it kept overheating LOL… Anyway, I still had fun filming so I hope you enjoyed the video. Get into it! BTW, if you are interested in checking out the fertiliser mentioned in the video from Plant Doctor: Go to http://www.plantdoctor.com.au and if you decide to purchase use SSM20 = "One-time" use code offering 20% off products (not shipping). Next time you shop use SSM10 = 10% off products (not shipping). I receive a small commission on sales. Cheers, Mark
Love his Dad jokes. Such an typical Aussie bloke.
My mom tells a story about how when she was little, her family kept chickens. Well, at some point they decided to stop raising chickens, butchered them, ate them, and pulled down the coop. Well the garden that they planted over where the chicken coop was the next year, grew 10x better than any plant they had in any other garden on their acre of property.

On the light front, what about the plants burning if the sun is too hot etc. Do vegetables need a bit of shade?
I absolutely love watching your videos, i really want to know so much about planting vegies and fruit trees. I love your garden and those raised beds are an excellent idea and make it so much easier without breaking your back.thank you for sharing.

Sorry: "Grow Back Better" does not fly with us in the United States, too similar with a very unpopular President. PLEASE do not go political with your posts or you will lose viewership from the very people you want to reach… #2020Reality
Gardeners should also eat the food they grow and learn how to prepare meals with their crops.
