Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂 #Tomato #Garden #Gardening

  1. The posts featured in the video are from https://plasticforests.com.au/product/recycled-plastic-square-picket/ as stated I am not an affiliate or sponsored but do appreciate their work in recycling. This was the first company in Australia that found a way to recycle soft plastics like bags or hay bale wrapping cheaply and without using water (which historically used to be the only way and not good environmentally) but now they are growing as a business and encouraging more recycling start-ups around the world. Cheers 🙂

  2. I've already done this…..for the first time this year…..I didn't know it had a name, just seemed like a nice easy way to control my plants. So far, it's working great.

  3. Hi mark.
With young tomato plants do you trim off lower limbs to make the tomato to grow up and stronger ?
Also what do you use to stop pest eating holes in your leafy plants.
    Cheers mate.

  4. Thanks for this Idea, I did this to my raised garden bed with a slight variation. I used some soft green plastic coated wire for 1 of the strands in each row to give them more strength & twine for the other. It is working great, thanks again for all your great video's.

  5. The trick to protecting the planet from plastics-induced pollution/climate change is to move away from plastics. We are smart enough to find alternatives but lack the will.
