  1. How is that weeping willow tree you planted with the kids by the big pond doing?!!
Also, I love your closing blessing! I hope it doesn't get cut short too many times! <3

  2. Hey roots and refuge family. There is a system that's mobile and it seems like it might be very useful to u guys on your new land. A fellow YouTuber named perma pastures farm has something he calls a chicken tractor on steroids.

  3. Welcome to zone 8! My Gaskins Perpetual and Victoria varieties of Rhubarb do REALLY well here in 8B (PNW). I will say I think it's gets hotter there in NC so your rhubarb may go to seed every year, but just cut them off and your plant will be fine (or leave them they're lovely).

  4. Im not sure you ever had this issue with your teens. But we went from small town in town to in the country off grid homestead. ALL of my children were excited. No neighbors. Less bills. More area to play. They wantted small livestock. Moved in Jan 2019 and when Covid hit, man were we thankful!!

But now Im getting the "I didnt choose this life from my teens. And my adult children (who had initially lived at home and since abandoned their animals) are backing the teens who are now complaining. Im just spent at this point. But im afraid of mi imizing the animals too much due to the covidBS. Anyone got advice?

  5. If you plant the asparagras patch between the animals and yur house you will eliminate the ability to see the goats after the asparagras goes to seed….a full mature asparagras plant will get to about 5 feet tall and block your view from your porch to the pasture…

  6. I would second guess that school thing. I'm getting ready to yank mine out of middle school after the first week because of covid. The only person I give a f*** about in this world has covid now on a ventilator in the hospital and he is a homesteader. Not gonna lie, saying covid isn't real or people claiming to have the vaccine and not wearing masks in public… All are in imminent danger if I hear that in my immediate vicinity.

  7. Are you going to attach those small cameras on fence all around so you are able to see everything? You are so close by the wild life, not scaring just think 🙂

  8. I tried to grow rhubarb for the last 4 years with no luck. Until this year when a friend gave me starts from hers. She grows it in large pots that she moves into an unheated garage in the winter. Mine in pots have grown wonderfully this summer. I've read that rhubarb grows best in well drained soil.
    We're in east cental Missouri.
