This was my first year growing watermelon. I didn't realize I'd be so emotionally invested. I had one that I thought was done and it wasn't and completely white inside, 2 others burst, a few little ones that just didn't make it, etc. Out of the 9 potentials, I ended up with 4 of the most incredibly sweet watermelons ever but I just don't think my nerves can take it again.

I'm chilean and watermelons are an essential part of summer for us, at least in my family. There's a place called Paine that grows the best watermelons you will ever see in your life, and while they are about three times bigger than that one, usually chilean watermelons are at least twice as big as yours, so at this point I'm wondering that maybe we have a special giant variety here, cause north americans seem to think watermelons are the size of a soccer ball when I'm used to them being 6-10 kg on average. I saved the seeds of a particularly sweet one I ate last summer and now spring is about to start so I'm reading all I can to get that big prize I'm hoping for!!

I had a Texas giant spontaneously pop up. I didn’t do anything but give it some water whenever I watered my lemon tree. Ended up with 3 giant watermelons. Very yummy.

They were grown alot in florida and GA. In the 70's and 80's.
They can get up in the 80 lbs. Range alot.

This year grew Shining Star , got it right , never had a sweeter and more flavorful melon!
