  1. I am glad to see that everything is starting to get settled in and the starting to get the homestead established. On a side note I enjoy the devotionals that are periodically presented thankyou for helping to be a light upon a hill and not cover it with a basket.

  2. Ok, I love you guys. I'm not trying to run a farm. We have like 5 raised beds and that's enough work for me. What I really want to know is how do you afford to do all this? None of this is cheap.

  3. Hey Jess, I just bought a nut wheel for picking up acorns. We have the same trees, saw tooth oak. I have every year picked up nuts or grazed my pigs under to eat these nuts. This year I used the wheel. It's so fast and easy. You can really give your pigs a treat and supplement with these nuts. Tractor supply!

  4. I agree with Jeremiah, put in all the water lines now EVERYWHERE that you will have things growing whether it be animals or plants also run an outside ground fault electric line. Water lines 12 " deeper than frost line requirements and electric in conduit 12" above the water line. Heat may be needed, or lights or holiday decorations, cleaning stations, or wash bays for animal or processing. 4 gang plug boxes are what I'm planning for my future new homestead. You never want to need it and not have either available. It's so easy to do it now, but probably not later.
I'm glad you are leaving space between the greenhouses/high tunnels for travel access like I suggested. You won't regret it. Besides front & rear access room.

  5. Hi Jess! I'm so sorry that the neighbors dogs killed some of your ducks and chickens. You said you talked to them and then moved the ducks. Does that mean that they aren't going to do anything about their dogs? If so, that's sad, and disrespectful to your family. Maybe you need a pellet gun to chase them off. I know you love animals, but you guys have the right to protect yours. Anyway, I hope it all works out for you. I really enjoy listening to your plans for whatyou're going to do, and how you're going to do it. It's fun watching your progress, too. Thank you so much for sharing!
