Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂 #garden #gardening #organic
Love this
I’m in Los Angeles and whatever you grow, I’ve been able to grow too here. So always excited to hear what your planting. Ordering a star fruit today!
Hi! Could you please advice us on where you get your seeds for veggies and fruits from?
We eat the pomelo though. They're good and makes you feel full.
We love our lemon and Orange trees.
Hey mate, that is a lot of food. Is it all for your family's use or are you selling back to the local community? No hate just curious
He's got birds, in the US we have deer that'll pick your garden clean, and they can easily leap over a regular fence.
Wow that's to much I really love fruits
Nice
How do you stop fruit fly on your citrus, I find it a nightmare on my grapefruit and manderines
Such bountiful and lovely spread of harvest! I remember the smell of the Pomelo flowers after the rain and it’s so heavenly. In the Philippines, we eat the star fruit green with a li’l pinch of salt and never made its way to the juicer :D. Thank you for sharing your harvest with!
good and delicious
Gloating? No. Inspiring? Yes! It’s amazing to see the kind of production and quality one can have from their own personal garden and orchard. It really makes one want to garden and work towards having the same delicious harvests for one’s self.
That's a beautiful harvest! Thanks for sharing.
i think a pom pom for my hair and a yellow dragonfruit to share would be the foundation of a great day! 😀 loved this video! 🙂
I learn a lot here. Citrus are super easy for me too, have dozen or so, but I've struggled with pineapple, have a few small ones in the ground now but as it gets colder? IDK. (low land farther N. California)
Absolutely gorgeous harvest Mark. You should feel proud of the great care you've taken of your Homestead. Congratulations on your bounty
Glad to have come across this channel
What size is your block of land?
What can I do with pomelo pith and skins besides candied skins?
Beautiful bounty
We also yellow dragon fruit.
Yes I injoyed it.
Great haul. I’m busy trying to establish a balcony garden in Darwin, some definite learning curves there with the build up and heat.
What a beautiful spread right there!!
Anyway, just quick info, you can also juice up the pith of pomelo (just cut the outer skin).
It is very very rich in riboflavin, a strong antioxidant to fight preventing cancer.
I know, it would make the juice taste bitter, but hey, just think of its huge benefit and it would be just fine.
love it!
I would like to move there so I can grow these fruits!
