  1. It is so refreshing to see Ben’s passion for the garden. I teach at an alternative school in Tillamook, Oregon near the Oregon State University (OSU) Extension. Our small school has a garden, which we are developing with students. We also share our building with preschoolers! Our teen students will be working with preschoolers in the garden! Thank you for giving me more ideas!

  2. Because most your garden tools that you still have to bring, go to your local convenient store buy that candy that is a large candy diamond on a ring. I use to use those minus the candy, as a template for seeds. I would dip the Plastic part in the soil not the ring part and worked perfectly for seeds. Your little man may like that too.

  3. I just watched your episode about planning your little house garden, and wanted to let you know that another idea for a small garden is to use kiddie pools. They're dirt cheap like $7 or so at Walmart, you punch a few holes in the bottom for drainage, fill with dirt or potting soil and plant your seeds. For those who want it raised a bit, I'm thinking of using pallets underneath.

  4. You are so right about taking the time to teach your children as you go. My mother could not be bothered and it took me years to learn the basics. Your children will benefit hugely from the time investment you give them.

  5. Love seeds, way more seeds than space to plant, I use the excuse I need them incase someone else didn't get any lol… yes I'm addicted to picking up seeds whenever I see them in the stores, just incase !
