aw, your mom reminds me of my mom & dad – our little family (M, D, 2 siblings) would do the same and celebrate major holidays the weekend after (thanksgiving 2 days late, christmas depended on what day it falls on, etc.) it works out so much better, less stress and not running around like mad to see everyone on a day that’s supposed to be about enjoying everyone’s company. My mum really does not like grocery shopping with me, due to allergies of dairy, gluten, peanut and citrus in the family. Poor mum will pick up item 1 telling me it's gluten free but I'll look and it will be loaded with other allergens.

This year we are making 80% of the Thanksgiving dinner the day before so we are not in our feet for hours on end (I broke both ankles and my right leg in mid Oct and I still am confined to the wheelchair). I stumbled upon you while laying in bed and so thankful for that bcuz you have encouraged me to do a garden and can what I can for fall/winter.

I agree doing as much as you can the day before is the way to go. That’s what I do and have done for years. Other wise your going to be up very early and scrambling to get things done and then exhausted when the family gets there.
