VIDEO: Should You Water The Garden In Winter?

I soaked 1-2 cups of tomato leaves in cold water over night and sprayed aphids but the aphids are still booming on some pea plants. There was still traces of garlic in the spray bottle
Thanks Luke, I learned something today
Thank you, can’t wait back to the garden get my hands dirty again!
I was hoping to hear it’s time to prune fruit trees
winter in southern California is like your summer in Michigan ! with a few crazy rainy cloudy days here and then….
Thanks for the info. I live a bit south of you in the Mt. Clemens area so its good to have a resource like your channel to get location specific tips and tricks.
I'll be following your videos as we get closer to spring. I managed to get a couple packets of the giant crimson tomato seeds for my brother-in-law and I. Looking forward to warmer weather.
Completely unrelated but I found this instructional film from 1942 on growing a Victory Garden during WWII. I think you should do a reaction video! https://youtu.be/UHkGJEiDpdw
Can you describe what winter prep you do, if any, to your woody herbs like lavender, thyme, sage, and rosemary? I wasn't sure they would survive winter outside (I'm in zone 6a) so I brought them inside, but there isn't as much info out there on indoor overwintering procedures as compared to say overwintering peppers indoors. But if I can leave them outside over the winter and have them come back in the spring I would much prefer that!
Before I watch, Sometimes yeah depends on your exact soil and weather conditions. I typically water the raised beds every 5 days if it doesn't rain. stuff in the clay/compost mix doesnt need water unless I fertilize
10 degrees, dude thats rough, luckily my low over winter so far was 25 an I hated it, along with my pak choy and swisschard
Thank you! I pile the snow on my garden beds … we get tons of snow and won't be planting until May long weekend at least. My beds don't have anything in them so nothing to rot. They're Hugelculture beds so I want that moisture to stay there
So funny I have been talking with friends at work about watering for weeks. Been unusually warm and very dry this winter in Omaha. Went ahead and watered some plants yesterday for the first time ever
I have a greenhouse over my raised bed and have cold weather crops in there I water every few days as the soil dries out on the top. Also put a small hoops over the plants because I don't have heaters in the greenhouse I am in zone 6a
In my case the soil(clay) is mud until mid spring. I could see winter watering in high sand places.
I have a Blueberry bush that a neighbor when moved in put up a wooden fence and blocked its light. I need to move it. But when can I move it? Its about 5ft tall already. Anyone know on this?
Thanks, Luke. I always learn something new from you!
good to hear from you at this time of year
when would you start your hot peppers.. i'm thinking march1st. what are your thoughts
Lucky that you have snow, on my side of lake Ontario there's no snow and the plants have the bear the full brunt of these cold snaps without any snow to insulate them.
I found a random dry root tree end of fall idk where it came from I think the wind blew it into my yard it's like 1ft tall but it looks proportionally like a 50ft tree like 5ft down 20ft from the house I plan on building up over it
FUNNY! "Reminding you not to get frostbite out in the garden" I can relate to that! When it gets a little above freezing here in Iowa. I love to go out and do stuff around the garden…. or with compost!!
i turn off my drip lines when it rains here in los Angeles, which isn't often…
