VIDEO: Johnny's Seed Unboxing – Flowers I've Grown Before

In part 3 of my massive $3000 Johnny’s seed order unboxing, I’m going over the flowers that I have grown before and have purchased again. I’ll be sharing all my tricks and tips about these specific flowers, why I choose to grow them, and why I’m excited to have them again. There is lots of fun stuff here, like all my zinnias, snapdragons, cosmos, celosia, and more.

  1. I'll give you the scientific.
A plant can only photosynthesize at a certain rate. The lower the humidity, the faster the water is drawn through the plant, making it harder for the plant to capture it with photosynthesis.
Wind will also draw water out of the plant faster than calm weather.

  2. Im always taking notes during your live videos! So much information for first year gardener that really go a long way!
Sometimes i get so lost in “instagram flower farmers” & forget about my own dreams & desires for my garden!

  3. It’s worth listening to it all for tidbits like plant spacing on the Benary’s. I’m used to 9 inch spacing, but your zinnia beds last year were beautiful so I’ll probably be trying 6” this year now.

  4. Cosmos were the first flowers I grew—Sensation Mix. I still just love the singles. They are bouncy and flouncy. I tried Double Click last year and didn’t love them. They weren’t nearly as productive for me, and wouldn’t open up fully for me if I picked them early, whereas I could get several days from the singles because, as you said, buds would open in succession.

  5. I love the idea someone posted about using the dried flowers in clear Easter egg ornaments. That would look so good on a pussy willow branch in a vase.
